Are shrugs naff?

So, I'm thinking of getting this dress. I've recently bought these shoes. If I do go for the dress, I could do with some kind of arm covering I think. Are shrugs naff? What do people wear to weddings these days? Oh and if anyone has any handbag/clutch suggestions that would be great too Grin

I'd get a karen millen faux fur shoulder cape off ebay to go with that.

But I'm not remotely cool.....

Lovely dress.

Shrugs are excessively naff. I would wear it with a jacket, smart cardigan or possibly a cape as fluffy suggests. But step away from shrugs, they suit no one, break up the line of your dress and scream that you want to cover up your arms.

I don't like shrugs .

Thing is I'm not remotely cool either ... might fake fur be a bit hot in July though?

So it is as I suspected and shrugs are naff. OK so maybe go down the cardigan line then ... thank you Smile

Maybe a cropped jacket like this?

FromagePlease · 30/06/2014 20:54

Absolutely stubbing dress. But yes, shrugs are very naff. Try a little structured jacket, or cardi if you prefer. There will be lots of options if you head to a big department store.

Obviously I meant 'stunning' dress. Oops

Lovely dress. I'd wear a plain cardigan with that, neat and slim fitting to avoid being too casual or ruin the line of the dress. I like value for money and would get loads of wear from a cardigan after, whereas a jacket or cape would gather dust in the wardrobe. Hobbs are usually pretty good at coordinating items, do they not have anything? Otherwise how about jaeger, lk Bennett or jigsaw, might get something in the sale!
Love fuchsia pink with navy, I'd try and find a bag to match the shoe colour, but a plain envelope clutch, nothing fussy. Have a lovely day.

Shrugs are soooo dated now.what about a fab coloured silky wrap..something really bright ..or maybe silver ? Or a pashmina?

splodgeness · 01/07/2014 13:02

Naff or not, I bet you three quarters of the people at the wedding will be wearing one. And you will end up standing outside at some point in the evening freezing so just get one. I think they are fine. Personally I would feel a bit silly in a cape.

polyhymnia · 01/07/2014 14:07

I'm in the plain but good quality cardigan camp.

Think shrug would spoil the classiness and line of that lovely dress. Ditto a pashmina.
