What's the difference between child shampoo and normal shampoo?

I had ds1 in the shower with me this morning and I realised I'd forgotten to bring in his baby shampoo so I used mine. I'm now wondering what the difference is ?

It doesn't hurt when it goes in their eyes.

Which makes me wonder why they deliberately make adult shampoo that does hurt.

Iggly · 29/06/2014 19:18

They don't make adult shampoo deliberately painful. Adults are just more sensible!

I think adult stuff is harsher?

I use adult shampoo on the DCs because they've got curly hair and need stuff which is SLS and silicone free. It is actually quite gentle as well.

Yes I think it's just the eye thing. I've used DDs john sons shampoo when I ran out and can't remember a difference but I've also used the top and tail stuff when I've run out of both and it didn't feel like it was washed so I'm guessing more watery

Baby shampoo is ph neutral like water. Adult shampoo is not.

Great, so it won't hurt me using it now and again when I can't be bothered to get out of shower and hunt for the baby shampoo

I use baby shampoo on my hair and it washes the same as any 'adult' one I've used plus I don't need conditioner after it. I find a lot of other stuff leaves my hair greasy the following day so I'm sticking with baby shampoo!
