I need a dress for my sons graduation. Any ideas?

I have never attended a graduation.

I need a dress for 9.00am ceremony and then lunch with ds and hs best friends from uni and their parents.

I want something knee length and ok for whatever weather gets thrown at us in mid July
I like this because it's easy but I fear twenty squillion lk Bennett dresses poncing around town that morning

Size 10/12. No boobs. Arms are good but knee length is vital.

Has anyone seen anything gorgeous?
I'm so proud of my son and I want him to be proud of me ( in ways other than my generally being awesome Grin)

I really like the orange one

Don't like the dark blue ....too many folds at front ....looks like a granny frock . Go the orange . Looks great on u

noddyholder · 30/06/2014 21:16

The orange looks great on you

ExcuseTypos · 30/06/2014 21:18

I think the orange one is lovely.

Looks good with your skin colour.

ab987 · 30/06/2014 21:27

orange is nicer- blue a bit frumpy- but you will need a jacket or cardi with the orange.

littlewhitebag · 30/06/2014 21:28

The orange one is fab.

BestIsWest · 30/06/2014 21:41

Love the orange. You have a great figure.

tethersend · 30/06/2014 21:48

I don't like the orange one, sorry Pag. The cut is strange at the waist seam- too much fabric.

This would suit you.

tethersend · 30/06/2014 21:52

Or this

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/06/2014 21:59

But Pag isn't saying she must have specific designers (or indeed any designer) or pay a lot of money - the links on here are from all sorts of places.

Pagwatch · 30/06/2014 22:04

That's lovely 1944 Smile

Unfortunately I'm shallow. So I'm on style and beauty looking for frocks.

I pissed on your point a bit there, lovely Remus.

Grin

Its style and beauty. I'm not going to detail my family angst or blather on about how proud I am.
Anyone who thinks wanting a nice frock to cover my lumpy arse means I'm shallow and don't care about ds isn't going to change their mind [shrug]

Can I keep linking to dresses or are you sorted, Pag?

cream

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/06/2014 22:11

:) Keep linking, Tethers - please - but not blue ones!

Pagwatch · 30/06/2014 22:11

I have to do the evening ds2 thing but please send me more Smile
I've not done a s&b frock hunt before. It's fab.

another orange

poshpjs · 01/07/2014 08:07

Have you looked at Boden- either smart day dresses or occasion dresses?

SWIMTHECHANNEL · 01/07/2014 17:05

Have bought that Anglomania blue chilli pepper one.

'Tis v v gorgeous.

But Ms Westwood has unrealistic expectations re middle-aged waists, I find.

jimmybim · 01/07/2014 17:39

If you do go to Selfridges in London try Tory Burch at 149 New Bond Street

Pagwatch · 14/07/2014 17:04

Right. You were all very helpful.
I went to selfridges. The Westwood ones were too thin and while the top half was always lovely, the bottom a disaster.
Hugo boss had two nice ones, then I tried a Paul smith and realised I was veering into evening again. It seemed that everything I liked was too short or too formal.

But I found this just as I was leaving. It's incredibly comfortable, a bit summery, a bit formal and I know I'll wear it again

So thanks
