I have this dress, I have 2 hours tomorrow to find something to wear over it which is not too expensive, some shoes (mid or low heel) and jewellery as I have nothing which will work with it. Wedding is next Saturday and I also have to decide whether to wear a hat!

I am shit at colour choosing but will apparently be photographed as part of the wedding party and so want to look less like a mess than usual!

(i'll be wearing sheer tights so i guess open shoes are out, and also have to get a new bra - sigh)

OK - I have bought a whole load of things to accessories and now ready to sob as wedding is on Saturday!

I spent last Sunday looking at about 3000 pairs of shoes and have gone for cobalt blue mid heels as anything high makes me fall over and hurts.

With that in mind I then bought a blue chunky necklace but it isn't really the right blue, I've also got a blue bag but it again is not quite the same shade as the shoes. Then there is the jacket factor - have bought a black smart jersey cardigan 3/4 length (more like a bolero) but in desperation also a fitted black jacket - both look smart but a little funereal.

So I'm thinking brighten it all up with a fab hat in grey (from the skirt) or blue to match the shoes? Ditch the bag (we'll have the children's changing bag anyway to carry) and just make do with the necklace.

Hi, that is a cracking dress.

Is it a must wear hat do? The dress does not say hat to me, but I'm not a hat person.

I think I'd go for the fitted jacket rather than the bolero as with a full skirt a bit of structure is no bad thing and I agree blue shoes is the way to go.

If you're not going to have a blue bag what about a blue flower on the lapel of your jacket? Or will you be wearing a buttonhole?

No I am not part of the wedding party (something of a MN thread in its own right Grin ) so wouldn't be wearing a buttonhole.

I have seen this bag www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321013577268?var=510092115573 which is suede like the shoes

Or I could put blue flowers in my hair (long - plaited up) but feel a bit daft doing that.

and thank you - I am so crap at this style business!

I do like the bag.

I think you're either a flowers in your hair person or not, sounds like you're not (me either) Grin.

What sort of hat were you thinking of?

FiveExclamations · 02/07/2014 17:23

Big gray weddingy hat

Eyelet · 02/07/2014 17:25

Not - I think I'm a bit well built for the flowers in my hair look - I never was, and never will be 'whispy'

Hat 1 - although this is too creamy - the dress is more grey www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_087010320087_-1

Hat 2 - right colour but too expensive www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_087010345864_-1

We have an incredible hat hire place close by so I might pop in there and see what they think - woman gets Ascot ladies by the dozen in and helps style them so I should be in good hands.

Oh that's handy, take a picture of your dress along and you're in business.

I too am not whispy or even whisp adjacent and have eschewed the flowers in the hair look for the same reason.
