Can you iron leather?

I know it sounds doubtful but, I've just bought a leather jacket online in a sale. The lapel on one side was doubled back in the packaging and there's a definite crease there and it hangs the wrong way. There are no more jackets to replace this one with and I love it otherwise. Dare I risk it, obviously with something protective to co re it, like a towel?

No! Lay it flat, weigh it down with something (a switched off iron would be ideal) and leave it overnight. If that doesn't work, try the same again with the lapel folded back the other way. Do not iron it!

No, do not iron.

I think as you wear it the leather will loosen up and it gets softer with less creases.

no to the iron, try a blast from a hairdryer (not too close) the warmth may soften it.

I suppose you could try with a teatowel over it and it on a very low setting

don't use a hand held steamer either, i ruined leather doing this when managing a charity shop

I had the same happen to me.
I placed a towel over the lapel and then pressed it with the iron on a low heat. The leather was fine and lapel regained its shape. I used a thick, fluffy towel.
Don't some dry cleaners specialise in dry cleaning suede and leather??
Maybe they could help you out???
