right. do i try stonebridge hair clips again?

i ordered a couple of barrettes which turned out to be the wrong size....

at £60 for the two i think i expected something a bit special.

i got 2 plastic hair barrettes.

do not ask me what i thought id get because i dont actually know....i didnt think they would be plastic for starters.
and i thought their precision engineered clippy bits would be better than they were.
they were not all that.

so i sent them back but have been told my the company that its only because they were too small for my copious flowing locks that im disappointed....

to reorder the right size clips would now cost more than the £60 i paid.....

is this madness?
im not rockefella btw.....modest income. big mortgage....

but
i do wear my hair up every day for work because i have to. its meant to be in a bun but meh....
no one does buns except aunt flo from bod.
so i do a twisty thing with a clip. neat. tidy. not school maamish....

should i "invest" this kind of money in 2 plaggy hair clips? or go to boots, spend £2.99 and spend the rest on ??????

help. my reality is blurred. i seem to live in a world where spending £60 on hair clips is almost ok.....

I remember your first thread about these. I too didn't think they would e plastic (not sure what I thought they would e made from).

Personally I would save your money and but the ones from Boots.

Have a look at some youtube stuff for easy up do's if you fancy trying something different. Grin

SavoyCabbage · 27/06/2014 04:08

I wouldn't either. Tell them that you thought the price was for the bigger clips and as the bigger ones cost more, you don't want them. Which is true.

I think the £60 was fine if they were what you thought they were originally. Good quality tortoise shell clips. But they aren't.

Eastpoint · 27/06/2014 04:19

£60 for two hair clips you'd mainly wear at work seems a lot of money. I use the Boots ones, if anything happens to them I don't mind as they can be replaced.

JamJimJam · 27/06/2014 07:26

I would return them.

The best clip I have ever bought is from Ficcare.

ZaraW · 27/06/2014 08:21

Their quality is good but no way justifies the prices. I did recommend France Luxe on E Bay or Amazon on your original post which are cheaper but I think the same quality and they are hand made in France not sure where you can buy on the high street though.

WildThong · 27/06/2014 09:11

I saw your other thread too. Don't re- order, it's way too ££.

Google Scunci, they are very good, made by Babyliss I think. £3.99 for the large non slip clips.

WildThong · 27/06/2014 09:12

Found the link

Saurus72 · 27/06/2014 11:17

I second Scunci. After your thread when you said the Stonebridge ones were not that great, I went to Boots and bought some Scunci barrettes and gold metal clippy hair slides for about £8 and they are good. They also do barrettes for different hair thicknesses too, so I bet they will do something right for you for about £10. Then you can splash the remaining £50 on a new dress.

SmileAndNod · 27/06/2014 14:34

Firstly I had to look up barrette Blush, then I realised it was the clip I used to clip up my long hair (as was) in a twisty up do. I used to use the scunci clips as my hair is very thick and there was a lot of it to put up. I would probably buy a few of those cheaper ones and spend the rest on clothes / skin care / make up / perfume.

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/06/2014 16:11

thanks all
zara - i did look up french luxe but they are very limited on amazon and in this country....the ones i liked and thought would work all seemed to be in the US, and when i looked at price plus shipping it worked out roughly the same as stone bridge.

I've just googled as I hadn't heard of them-I'm completely underwhelmed. Sorry OP but imo they are nothing special and a but dull and you can get nicer elsewhere. I have thick hair and spent 25 quid on a hair clip, this was years ago in the 80's it lasted me years and was worth the money. It was beautiful and coped with my thick hair. Honestly you could get nicer in Claire's!

WowOoo · 27/06/2014 16:34

I looked in Claire's Acc today DameDiazepan.

They didn't have the same types that they had on Vicar's Stonebridge link.
Lots of bulldog clips and alice bands.

I wouldn't order again if I were you. But, they do look lush and just what I've been wanting for ages. If I were richer I'd have bought lots of different types. (not helpful!)

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 27/06/2014 19:21

The hair clip I wear most days is a grey plastic tortoiseshell style clip very similar to the stone ones you linked to previously but was less than a fiver from asda! In the haircare aisle not the George hair accesories. I don't shop at asda every week but noticed they had similar ones in about two weeks ago so I assume they are a regular item.

They hold my hair in place it sounds like we do a similar style for work and it's still going strong a few years later.

jessiemummy28 · 27/06/2014 19:25

Agree with Dame... Id never heard of them so just googled them and am Shock at the price! They'd have to be absolutely amazing quality to be worth that!

ThatVikRinA22 · 27/06/2014 23:19

well, i think i offended them a wee bit because i was quite honest with my feedback and have returned them, not had another email since.

i was toying with sending for the larger sized clips because i was having trouble finding anything similar.
but my £3 ones from boots are doing the job.
ill keep looking. thank you.

WildThong · 28/06/2014 22:19

I've been wearing this one all day, even had a wee nap in it. Very comfortable and secure.

Ilovenicesoap · 28/06/2014 23:49

I have been wearing the exact same one Vicar
Seriously £60 for 2 hairclips Confused

MsVenus · 29/06/2014 06:02

Get them from Boots or Primark (I bought mine for 2 & it lasted 2 years until dh sat on it!). 60 is a lot of money and will you pay 60 again to replace the clips once lost or broken?
