Short fringe ?

Hi all. I'm contemplating having a short fringe cut in my hair. What do you make of them ? I was thinking a thin and slightly choppy type fringe. something like this

I've not had a fringe since I was about 8 years old but I feel its time for a change. My hair is dyed a brightish red (natural ginger), it's bra strap length and my face shape is round. I like the idea of the fringe but I don't want to look like I'm 12. So ladies what do you think? Should I go for it or not?

Around here that particular type of very short fringe is almost exclusively worn by young eastern European girls ie primary school age so that would put me off (the age thing obviously not the ethnicity bit)

I think Rachel Khoo looks great with a fringe as does Sophia Amoruso. They don't look 12 just very stylish IMO. Go for it if you want to, it can always grow back.

I do like a fringe but I am too chicken would really hate to lose the length and versatility I currently have with my longer hair. To get the best of both worlds I have a few clip in fringes which I use and so far nobody has noticed that they are not real, even my eagle-eyed, hypercritical sister thought it was my own hair when I visited her the other day.

I buy the fringes and then trim them to my own style requirements which tend to be less wispy and more blunt (think Betty Paige/pin up style). I always tend to wear them with a pony tail though rather than hair down. These fringes tend to come with longer side pieces that I leave in and sweep up into the pony tail.

If this is your first time with a fringe I would personally start with a longer one and see how you like it. I'm personally not a fan of short fringes but it may well suit you.

I'm not sure. Short fringes are really hard to pull off and can make the wearer look a bit demented. An eyebrow skimming fringe is much more flattering to the average skull.

I had a look at the clip in fringes but they are all a bit too full looking for what I'm after. I found another photo of the type of thing I was looking for like this

I'm not keen on a eyebrow length fringe at all as I think it would be a bit much for my small face. I definitely want to avoid the 'demented' look - I think very short but full fringes have that type of look.

I'm a big fan of the short full fringe - and have worn it as part of many an early thirties haircut. Halfway between eyebrows and hairline is good - anything shorter or choppier is an arse to get lying flat if your hair is anything but poker straight(ened).

Well I did it. Got my super short choppy fringe cut in and it looks fantastic. Thanks ladies.
