Do laser treatments for thread veins actually work?

And if so, how many treatments do you need?? Thinking of getting it done so my legs don't look so rubbish in shorter shorts but don't want to throw money away. And I have only a month before we go on holiday

I had it done when I was younger. It worked on the pink / red ones but not on the dark purple ones :(

Loueytb3 · 25/06/2014 22:01

They are more red than purple. Did it just take one treatment?

I think it worked out as about £30 for 15 minutes. Yeah the pink / red ones took one session ,she did try the purple ones for me and didn't really change them much.

Standinginline - that's very cheap! Where did you get it done, if you don't mind me asking?

I'd love to get mine done, but the places near me all charge over £100 per treatment, and I only have 4 or 5 little thread veins that need zapping!

Standinginline · 26/06/2014 16:37

Yours might be better though ,in which case would probably do the purple ,more stubborn ones as well.
Mine was done at a beauty salon in town and the laser was probably very weak.
If you do get it done let me know how it goes ,whether it works etc...as it's something I'd be interested in if it actually works.
You can also look into another method ,can't remember what's it called ,but they inject a saline solution in the thread vein and seals it off. Very effective apparently.

The place I'm thinking of using charges 45 for 15 mins, 70 for 30 mins (Greater London). I've been there before to have some blood spots removed and most of them went after one treatment. I've got a few more that I want to get rid of so though I could combine the two in one go.

I had IPL for thread veins on my face. It worked but they came back. I was warned that they would.

Knackeredmum13 · 26/06/2014 16:46

It worked for me but it killed!! You can't expose the skin to the sun for about 6 weeks though so you've left it a bit late for your holiday.

ShutTheFuckUpBarbara · 26/06/2014 16:57

All of mine are purple Sad

noddyboulder · 26/06/2014 23:19

Just had mine done, but had sclerotherapy as my dr said lasers don't work very well on legs. So far the smaller ones have gone (1 week on), but will need a top up on the big blue one - luckily the top up is free. Cost me £200.

noddyboulder · 26/06/2014 23:20

They inject your problem veins with an irritant that makes the walls stick together...

Standinginline · 27/06/2014 16:13

Am thinking of trying the sclerotheraoy as I've heard it's effective. I've only got a few on my legs to get done as the pinky ones don't bother me so much ,it's just those pesky purple ones.
