I'm looking for a formal dress for a night at the opera and a wedding, so I found this one:
www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0114-5411-3819L00&productvarid=0114-5411-3819L00-DK%20PASTEL%20BLUE-16&refpage=promotions/sale-highlights

What do you think - elegant or mumsy? I'm 36, size 10 and don't want to look like the mother of the bride yet :-)

Toast dresses can be nice, expensive but there is always ebay

I don't think that Toast one is an opera dress - and the House of Fraser one is way 'mumsier' than the first. It looks horrid fabric and the length is neither one thing or the other.

BeeBlanket · 25/06/2014 13:34

No it depends on your style, but it's just an example of things that come up.

I bought this dress. Amazing colour, super comfortable and flattering. Would work well at the opera. I wore it to Ascot and dressed it up with hat and snakeskin bag and shoes. In the sale now.

I think it could be very breakfast at Tiffany's if styled right.

CarolineKnappShappey · 25/06/2014 17:45

I think it's formal enough for the opera. Deep ds where you're going though.
Where are you going?
Fine for ENO and Covent Garden, but not for Glynebourne.
