Oily skin keeps making eye make up slide off - help!

I have oily skin. One day I will be grateful for this - I'm 36 and have good wrinkle free skin, and I'm hoping I continue to follow in my mum's footsteps as she looks great at 66.

However, in the meantime, it's a bitch wrt eye make up. I discovered in Boots on the weekend a mattifying foam cleanser and face cream in their Botanics range which has worked wonders on the rest of my face so unless it starts to dry my skin or make it even oilier in the long run I'm happy with that. But when I apply eye make up it never sticks.

Is anyone aware of a product that could help?

Yes, common problem, I have had in past Laura Gellar eye primer, can't remember the exact name but was a concealer type thing in a twist brush pen ( like touche eclat). Dot it on and pat it in to blend- gave brilliant blank canvas for make up- my liquid liner would last until I removed it- it used to last until mid morning!

I'm just looking at a bare minerals one now. I have a touch eclat thing which I tried but it didn't help at all. I guess because it's a corrector rather than a primer?

I'm balking a bit at the thought of spending £20+ on something to keep my eye make up in place but right now it feels like there's no point wearing any at all!

Soap & Glory do an eye primer for under £10. I got it a week ago & have only used it once but it worked well.

Rimmel have one but I wouldn't recommend it for oily lids.

The holy grail eye primer is supposed to be the Urban Decay one...

There are many eyeshadow primers on the market - Urban Decays Primer Potion is quite popular, but NYX, Too Faced, Nars, Mac and other brands also make good ones. The Urban Decay one is around £20, but I think there are travel sizes around for £8 or so.

Some people really like Mac Paint Pots as a base (the colour Painterly seems to be recommended often). It's a cream eyeshadow that sets on the skin.

I personally find that Mac Paint Pots and Chanel Illusion d'Ombre (they are very similar products) last very well on my lids. If using too much, I find that it does crease a bit.

If you find that your skin gets more oily when using products for oily skin, you might find that you actually have dehydrated skin and that using the harsher products for oily skin strips the skin of oil and makes the skin over-produce oil.

How about some powder over your eyes before you add make up. Also you shouldn't put moisturiser on your eye lids as they don't have pores so it won't absorb

I wonder if I should go to debenhams or boots or whatever and try a few.

Carpaccio I never normally use oily skin stuff as that's exactly what happens. This seems to be much less drying so far but has a good mattifying action.

Fliss there's no way I'd moisturise my eyelids Grin

Not much help but I've had testers of all the Urban Decay eye primers and didn't rate any of them when it comes to slippage. Not bad on upper eyelids but real panda eyes underneath with all of them.
