What 'formal/evening' shoes do you wear if you can't stand heels? Do any nice pairs exist?

I'm giving up with high heels. I hate them. They hurt, I can't walk classily in them, and I certainly can't dance in them come the evening entertainment and so end up in dirty ballet bumps I've dug out the bottom of my bag... So that's it - anything over about an inch, two at the very most, is out.

But what do you wear with formal dresses then?!

I quite like these ones from Next (though they are technically in the bridal range!) and I think they might work with a black cocktail dress. Too OTT?

I have a pair in black like these which tend to get dug out all the time.

Has anyone seen anything good recently? What do you wear?

I can't generally wear heels (long standing ankle injury), and I also have ig (8), wide feet. I can wear wedges from White Stuff all day though, in comfort. They usually have a few styles in, Winter and Summer, and nice flats too.

some pretty shoes on here but nothing I could wear apart from the flats.

Looks like a memo has been issued outlawing heels under 3", which I have never been able to wear. And it seems 3 inches is now a low heel!

I think flat shoes are so stylish and it's a shame there areladies who want to cover their feet if they can only wear flats Sad fashion should be wearable and comfy as well as stylish

DO you know French Sole?

Thurlow · 23/06/2014 20:58

Yes special, it feels like it's either 3" heels or complete flats Sad I'm not even having much luck looking for kitten heels either! Some nice suggestions on here, thanks, am off to go completely through shopstyle...

I have dodgy feet too and these are great - but out of stock online, sorry. May be worth looking in store...

Have a look at Dune shoes. I have wide feet and find lots of shoes there that fit and look nice.

I have a pair of gorgeous cream and black kitten heels which are so comfortable. These are lovely and love these
