mid 40's and my skin is well terrible, I need to make time for me...usually I wip off make up with a cheap cleanser and wash with water that's it. I have way too many late nights and don't drink enough water.

So as of this week Im changing everything, so Im assuming I need to invest in a good cleanser, toner and moisturiser, drink more water and get to bed before midnight!

What else should or do you do?

I have fairly oily/combination skin so like oil free products

Mornings: Simple Moisturising Face Wash, followed by Clarins Doublewear Serum, then Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel, and then Clinique Anti Gravity Firming Eye Cream

Evenings: baby lotion to remove make up, then tone with Clinique No 2 clarifying lotion, Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion, and then Clinique Youth Surge cream.

Morning

Boots cucumber face wash sometimes with a muslin cloth

Moisturiser by Clinique
City block by Clinique

Evening
Superdrug vitamin e hot cloth cleanser
Moisturiser

OneLittleLady · 22/06/2014 12:00

morning and evening I hot cloth cleanse with Superdrug Vit E stuff and a flannel. I moisturise with the same brand intense moisture cream. Once a week I exfoliate, with again, the same brand exfoliator. My skin is smooth, clear and I rarely get spots unless they are hormonal ones.

liz earle cleanse and polish to remove make up in evening, followed by serum (boots is good) and a good moisturiser. Sometimes fushi oil although it is a bit smelly!

Can you afford to go and have a facial?

As a skincare therapist I would recommend getting somebody to have a really good look at your skin and tell you what you are really dealing with...

Failing that, most beauty counters will happily help dianoise you. Estée Lauder have a self help tool for customers to determine what they need.

Once you know your skin better you can wonder off and look at the vast array of products.

You will need as a minimum:

Cleanser
Toner (if you do have oily skin)
Mosturiser
Eye cream
Exfoliater (very important step!)

I'm happy to help if you have any questions Smile

Thank you everyone I think your suggestion of having a facial to diagnose is spot on barbi. I've got in a bad rut of just wipping off my make up then a quick wash then thats it. Don't eat much fruit and got to bed hat too late. Tomorrow it all changes,.I'm going to start by having early nights.

Vitamin E works well in keeping my skin healthy Smile

Morning:

La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturiser for sensitive skin
(Face gets wet in the shower but I don't wash it with anything. Lots will think this is gross!)

Evening:

Burt's Bees sensitive cleanser rubbed onto dry skin and wiped off with a hot, damp muslin. It works well on makeup so I don't bother to use a separate makeup remover.

Liz Earle toner spray, honestly only because I'm using it up. It doesn't seem to do anything other than smell nice.

La Roche Posay Toleriane moisturiser again.

TSSDNCOP · 22/06/2014 15:47

Get your eyebrows done properly, that wakes my face up.

Liz Earle cleanse and polish + dramatically different moisturiser.

I eat lots of avocado, nuts and olives which I swear makes my skin better.

Drink loads of water. If you're boozing have a glass of water to every two drinks.

Go to bed an hour earlier.

CheeseBored · 22/06/2014 16:44

Pint of warm water first thing. Water to wash face. Any old moisturiser. Then clinique city block. Lots of good fats and fish oil supplements. I reckon ive got pretty good skin.

CheeseBored · 22/06/2014 16:45

Oh and derma flannel!
