Sports bras

Does anyone know what the sizing on the shock absorber run bras is like?

I've got an old one which is a 34D... and I can barely do it up! It's really tight around the ribs. Stops me bouncing around though.

I need a new one as I've lost weight and my measurements are 31 inches around the rib cage and 35 inches around my bust. So I suppose I'd need a 32; it's just that I can't believe it given that I can't do up my 34!

Alternatively, does anyone have any other suggestions for good sports bras that really do the job?

Have you tried on the 34 back to front (is that possible with a shock absorber or is it an over the head type?)? Does it feel tight then too?

Your measurements suggest a 30DD/D (which has a smaller cup volume than our 34D) or a 32C/D (ditto). Did you take the second measurement leaning over without a bra?

The Freya Active is very good but comes up about one size small in the band. The Panache underwired sports bra is excellent too.

Thanks Sorrel! I can get it on if I put it on backwards and twizzle it round but it's still very tight. I did my measurements standing up Blush. I'll have a look at those other bras too, thanks Thanks

I have to go up a size in the shock absorber as they are so tight fitting that I can't fasten them. I am a 30D in normal bras but wear a 32c in shock absorber. It's advised to reduce a cup size if you increase the back size.

They are really tight on the band, I had one in the correct size and couldn't breathe properly when running - sort of defeating the point of it all Grin. It is a great bra though-size up.

Right, I re-did my measurements bending over for the bust part (and no bra on either time). 31 inches around the ribs and 36 inches around the bust.

The freya active bras look wonderful and much better than shock absorber TBH! Wiggle have the shock absorber run bra on sale at the moment though so I'm thinking I'm going to order the 32D and 34C and go from there... fingers crossed!

The Panache sport is an excellent sports bra and runs true to size unlike most of them! Your measurements suggest in normally bras you should be trying 30DD/E and 32D/DD. That's the sizes I'd try in the panache too

Statistically I have one old Panache Sports bra and need to get another. The size has written off my current one so I'm not sure what it is. Would you say that they are true to size?

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 21/06/2014 16:18

Argh..actually I misread your comment...you are saying that they are...as you were thanks.

Another vote for the Panache - true to size, and has a little hook at the back to make it racerback if you want. Nothing moves. Nothing.

Because I love my sports bra so much I found a cup-sized Panache tankini in the Figleaves sale, and again, that was excellent.

Thanks for the tips people! I'm going to keep my eyes peeled in the sales. Wiggle do free delivery and returns so if I find something better, I can always send the shock absorbers back.

I have the newish one which is both moulded and underwired and I would say it's true to size.

ygritte · 21/06/2014 22:24

I bought a new shock absorber pump and would say size up! I'm a 32DD/E couldn't get it on and even the 34E is a squeeze.
