I need bronzer recommendations please.
I am clueless and frankly the ones I saw in boots looked a bit scary and orange!
I am yellow skin tone with a few freckles.
Not got a huge budget.
Do I wear it instead of foundation?
Will I need powder to not look shiny?

Any ideas?

I think you put it on after applying loose powder after foundation

GeorgieB89 · 20/06/2014 18:17

You dust it on your cheeks, bridge of nose, browbone and anywhere else you think the sun might hit. Keep it light and avoid sparkle. Sunshimmer used to do a matte one - any mass brand will work provided it's not glittery. You'll need quite a big brush, though - don't attempt to do it with a piddly blusher brush. Don't use powder under - you'll look too matte. Also, as it's summer and you're going for the bronzed look, could you do without foundation and use a tinted moisturiser instead?

RubyReins · 20/06/2014 18:47

I adore the bronzer by 17 - couple of quid in Boots, no shimmer and a lovely shade. I am deathly pale and it makes me look less like a extra in "Twilight".

I apply it to anywhere the sun would hit and I use a massive brush. I don't use powder when I wear it.

I was petrified of the stuff but it's now my new bestie.

napoleonsnose · 20/06/2014 18:50

The Bourjois one that smells of chocolate is lovely. Not sparkly but just gives a nice glow. I'm really pale and it suits me. I'll look it up and link it.

KarlWrenbury · 20/06/2014 18:51

nars . Not bobbi brown brick thing - tis all glittery and vile

napoleonsnose · 20/06/2014 18:53

this one

RubyReins · 20/06/2014 19:01

Nars Laguna is lovely. Agree on the Bobbi Brown shimmer brick thing - frightful.

Raskova · 20/06/2014 19:04

Ermmmm, this sounds like the wrong way to do it from previous posts but I use collection 2000 from Tesco. It's great.

I put my foundation on with a trowel then I used index and middle finger. Rub them in it and then on my cheek line, nose, temples and put one finger on the edge of my eye and smudge it Grin

crazybutterflylady · 20/06/2014 21:41

Nars Laguna definitely! I have a yellow tone and it works wonders on my for a healthy glow.

Big brush, then trace a 3 and a backwards three starting at the centre of your forehead - round your eyes, onto cheekbones out to jawline and ending on chin. Make sense?! Hard to describe! Then a bit on your nose and you're done!

crazybutterflylady · 20/06/2014 21:45

KarlWrenbury · 20/06/2014 21:57

lol at 80s style face shaping
rememebr that Marks paint tin palette thing from the 80s?

nilbyname · 20/06/2014 22:02

I have the Lancôme brush stick thing, it's got the powder in the barrel and then you pump it into the brush and just swipe it on. It is so easy and it's just one big brush. Give my very similar tones akin to you, and freckles, looks lovely.

francesthebadger · 20/06/2014 22:54

But Bobbi Brown illuminating bronzer (shade: aruba) is marvellous stuff. Not glittery at all. Subtle healthy gleam. ££s but lasts forever and worth it.

TOADfan · 21/06/2014 00:09

Im so pale I'm scared to use bronzer all over but I use a Matt bronzer to contour under my cheek bones, my temples and under my face. It really slims my face.

McBear · 21/06/2014 07:55

Toad, what do you mean under your face?

Marmaladecat1 · 21/06/2014 08:23

Thanks everyone.
I need to add brush to my list.

crazy thank you for the picture I didn't know where to put it so that's really helpful!

Either Benefit Hoola or the StTropez bronzer.. Neither is filled with sparkle like most others.. Sparkly ones look so unnatural.

YellowStripe · 21/06/2014 09:44

Someone recommended Sleek makeup last week. Boots have an offer on, and bigger Tescos stock it.
The Rose Gold is said to be as good as Nars Orgasmic (but may be sparkly?).

TOADfan · 21/06/2014 14:49

McBear by under my face I mean my jaw line. Was too early though to think of the word Grin

NYC (cheapy range in Superdrug) do a good bronzer in a lighter golden shade that would be good for pale yellow tones. I think it's called Sunny?
