I am currently using Aveda Tourmaline Charged Hydrating Creme, which I LOVE. I bought the first jar on a whim, and at £35 it is a lot more than I would normally spend. However, I've tried to go back to my usual suspects and they all feel quite watery/greasy in comparison. I just really like the feel of Aveda cream, and it smells just lovely too.
Can anyone suggest any cheaper alternatives, that might have the same sort of feel?
I am really not one for expensive brands usually, and I don't wear any make up except for very occasional nail polish and mascara. My skin is normal and I'm erm over 35.

I too am on a quest for the perfect day moisturiser....I have used Clarins multi-active day cream before, which has an SPF, but my skin is combination so you might benefit from some other version. I thought it was slightly cheaper than Aveda, but it's been a while, and it obviously depends on size of tube etc.

UncrushedParsley · 21/06/2014 09:51

I think the reason I haven't bought it recently is I keep thinking I can get something cheaper that is as good, but that doesn't seem to be happening!

Itscurtainsforyou · 21/06/2014 10:32

My skin is different (combination but sensitive) and I've also struggled. The best one I've found is celestial from lush -might be worth going in one of the lush shops to see if there's anything that fits the bill.

My fail safe go to is the Kiehls ultra one (it has a picture of Greenland on the jar). I have normal, sometimes oily, sometimes dehydrated skin and it works wonders for me. I flirt with others on occasion but always go back to that one.

I think it's slightly cheaper than the aveda - not sure but it lasts ages as you only need a tiny amount.

aldi aqua complete

These are both really lovely and fresh feeling

Branleuse · 21/06/2014 12:11

i also really like estee lauder day wear but its probably not much cheaper than avena

elvislives2012 · 21/06/2014 12:16

I love Olay total effects. It's tinted and has SPF in it whilst still being quite light. I bought it from allbeauty.com as they discount a lot of beauty products

oneperfectlimousine · 21/06/2014 12:51

I don't know the Aveda one - but the Aldi (Lacura) ones are surprisingly lovely if a little heavily perfumed. There are reviews on makeupalley from people who do use the fancy stuff and think it compares well.

Branleuse · 21/06/2014 12:59

they are quite perfumed but dont irritate my skin and its a lovely smell.

missmartha · 21/06/2014 13:44

I use the Aldi face cream too. It's really very good.

thepurplepenguin · 21/06/2014 14:03

I think you should stick with it if you can afford it. I have wasted so much money trying to find a cheap equivalent of my favourite moisturiser (Clarins Hydraquench) and ultimately came to the conclusion that I might just as well get the Clarins in the first place.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 21/06/2014 15:04

I was always a sucker for luxury brand for skincare but got given a gift set of n-spa at asda and it's fab. The night cream is really rich but doesn't leave me feeling greasy. The scrub is really good and the facial oil. I keep meaning to get to an asda to buy the day cream to try.

Another one for body shop vitamin e cream.

Having tried all sorts of expensive creams promising this that and the other when all I got was super shiny skin or a spot outbreak from them, I tried the vitamin e cream on a whim and it's been fantastic. My skin has never looked so good.

mabelbabel · 23/06/2014 10:33

Thanks for the ideas. I actually have a tub of Bodyshop vitamin E cream in my gym kit, but I haven't used it for a while. Maybe I should give it a go for a week or so and see how I get on. I've also used the Aldi cream in the past, but forgotten about it, so maybe that's worth another try.
