Somebody explain the merits of this dress to me please

So, I've been doing some fairly random internet wanderings, vaguely wondering whether I could find a naice dress for my cousin's wedding in September (want maximum stylishness for minimum outlay ) and thought I'd look at TKMaxx GoldLabel.

Marni dress - lovely colours and back IMO.
But - nylon, see-through and unlined?? For 500+ smackeroonies? Really?!

I am not even prepared to consider the £100 they are asking for.
What am I missing? Or is it a matter of Emperor's New Clothes here?

Marni dress looks like the sort of thing a nun would wear, with a knobbly cardigan and sensible shoes.

Yellow River Island dress is monstrous.

I love marni but not keen on that Some of it you do have to try on as there are so many weird cuts. What colour are you after and shape etc? I am not keen on neon for anything other than small bits like bracelets and clutch bags etc. Other stories has some lovely dresses
