It's just a casual jersey dress but £30+ and don't really want to replace it if I can avoid it.

Can I dye over it?

You'll probably get away with dyeing it. I've dyed jersey tops before and it has been fine (as long as as I'm dyeing them the same colour as they were to start with - which you are. Otherwise the thread is likely to end up a different colour).

ophiotaurus · 18/06/2014 16:38

I've coloured in bleach marks before with a sharpie...

KoalaFace · 18/06/2014 16:39

Get one of those washing machine dye things. It'll be fine I reckon!

callamia · 18/06/2014 16:41

I've also coloured in small splashes with a sharpie.
Otherwise, good excuse for a new frock.

MikeLitoris · 18/06/2014 16:59

Sharpie is an amazing idea! It's a new dress too Angry

I'll pick up a dye on the weekend.

Yes I covered up paint with permanent marker, dye would also probably work but then you'd always have to remember to wash it separately.

Lambstales · 18/06/2014 19:25

Sharpies work fine but don't last forever, perhaps 5/6 washes.

OhTheDrama · 18/06/2014 20:48

I tried on my brand new black jumpsuit in the bathroom then left it hanging over towel rail, DH then spilled bleach on it (don't ask!). I coloured in the spots with sharpie then dyed it in the machine with dylon. Think it's only £2.99 in home bargains.

OhTheDrama · 18/06/2014 20:52

Meant to say it you would never tell.

ilovekittycats · 18/06/2014 21:16

I have also used a sharpie and on close inspection you can see it but you are the only one who knows where it is!

Lambstales · 18/06/2014 22:09

I've also used one on a lambswool jumper that had a stupid logo that couldn't be unpicked. Worked fine :)

BikeRunSki · 18/06/2014 22:11

I don't think you can dye over bleach. I have tried very unsuccessfully a few times in the past.

AuditAngel · 18/06/2014 22:14

I've use a Sharpie as well, although it gets touched in regularly but not as often as it should

TollgateDebs · 19/06/2014 10:11

I splashed bleached onto a yellow cotton jumper. So, I threw bleach all over to make it part of the design and it worked. Just another idea.

Kittykat7 · 19/06/2014 15:15

The dye won't grip to the bleached bit. It will look lighter than the rest & fade after washing. I've dropped bleach on things when cleaning the bathroom. Usually black so I just colour it in with a permanent black marker. It lasts a few washes then has to be redone.

WitchWay · 19/06/2014 15:48

I used a black permanent marker on a small bleach mark on black jeans. The texture went a bit weird with the bleach - sort of stiff.

BeCool · 19/06/2014 16:32

another sharpie/permanent marker fixer here.

Even if I have to touch it up every time I wear it it is still less hassle and cheaper than dying it.
