Any chiropodists out there. Icky feet!

I clearly have a toenail fungal problem in one foot. Yellow. Thick. hanging off a bit. Horrid.
Problem is every time I put a sample to the doc it comes back inconclusive. I have had medication prescribed previously that worked but it comes back.
Do I need to treat my shoes? Can a chiropodist prescribe?
Please please help me have pretty feet again... And not have an inch of nail varnish on each toe!

I haven't had this myself, but have read great things on here about using Vicks Vapour Rub on fungal toenails......some posters have really rated it! Try doing a search on here for it, might be some help to you?

According to my podiatrist, some samples come back negative because the patient is not always given a light protected sample box. Not saying this has happened to you, but it's worth considering.
Podiatrist removed all visible surface infection including surface of nail (not painful at all). She gave me Daktarin dry powder to treat shoes and said to change shoes often (to eliminate any moisture). Currently using Curanail, but it's early days.

I have also heard that Vicks is the miracle cure for fungal infections. Must be worth a go!

Oh I will buy the powder.... thank you!
At the docs I am usually just given a plain sample container that is used for everything so maybe that is the problem? I'm trying again tomorrow....
I did try vicks but it didn't work for me, sadly. Think my icky toenails are too far gone! Sorry tmi....

Here is the powder...www.boots.com/en/Daktarin-Aktiv-Spray-Powder-100g_1301/
The podiatrist said that I should use the powder in the shoes rather than on the feet (forgot to ask why not bothHmm).

I think that you have to get all of the visible infection removed and then keep your feet as dry and cool as possible.

I went to a chiropodist when I was heavily pregnant with dd (now 5) and couldn't reach my feet! She said about a powder to treat shoes to get rid of fungus but I instantly forgot.... due to depleting brain cells at time.
I had medication after which cleared it up but now it's back and worse. I think the shoe thing must be important!

If only they'd give me the prescription again without the test. But I understand why they don't. ....
