New bra question - just for a change!

I know, S&B have a wealth of threads on buying bras but could I please get a quick bit of advice?

I went to Bravissimo on Weds and got a couple of new bras. It was 20 months since I last went and this time they changed the band sized down one and the cup size down two! I was quite surprised at this but I did lose a stone a year ago so maybe it went then?

Anyway, first day off today since then so am wearing them round the house as advised (not both at once!). So comfy cup and strap-wise you wouldn't believe, especially for a bra-hater like me. But the band is worrying me, is it tight cos am not used to it or have they gone a bit too far? She was adamant straight away that my band size needed to go down. I can breathe but I can also 'feel' my ribcage, if that makes sense.

Do I perservere or have to trek back into town?

Nope, band sounds right to me. It should feel snug and firm on your rib cage, not enough to be uncomfortable and stop you moving or breathing (!), but you will definitely be aware of it for a few days.

The band should provide the majority of the support rather than the straps. And don't forget that elastic 'relaxes' with age, so you need to start on the loosest hooks so that you can move on to the tighter ones when required.

I've just bought a new bra today and I I know it's the perfect fit, but because the elastic is firm, and my old one was getting a bit soft, I am really aware of it on my rib cage.

But give it a couple of days and I know it'll be fine. But I am with you on how strange it feels to start with, but always the case.

I'd be inclined to agree, it sounds more like new bra syndrome than wrong size syndrome.

That's what I hoped you'd say. Really is noticable though.
