Perfume rut - if I like (some) Jo Malone I will also like...?

I have really got out of the habit of wearing perfume but I do love it so trying to make the effort more.

ATM I have a few Jo Malone ones: Blackberry and Bay, Earl Grey and Cucumber, French Lime Blossom and Red Roses.

I think I like quite simple scents and mostly fresh/ greenish smells- nothing too heavy or pinky-purple(does anyone else class smells by colour?) - but then again, I know the lime blossom and roses are quite flowery. To be fair, the Earl Grey one is my absolute favourite.

What else might I try? I hear good things about Tom Ford, worth a sniff? I have never smelled a celebrity perfume Ididn't hate, BTW.

Elaizabeth arden green tea? They come in a few varieties, i like the spiced one in winter, and iced in summer.

Ckone summer is quite fresh and citrussy.

Diptyque do some gorgeous perfumes. My favourite is Philosykos, it's figgy and gorgeous.

Grin You make Jo Malone sound like an entry-level drug, and you like someone out to try something harder!

It is widely said that the "next level" are the Hermes "Jardins" range ("Un Jardin sur le Nil", "Un Jardin sur le Toit", and so on) and the Guerlain "Aqua Allegoria" range.

I like quite sheer perfumes, too. I'm quite fond of the Roger and Gallet line in M and S.

I also like the Le Labo range - but those are pricey.

There's a Green Tea fragrance that is the grandparent of tea-scents, if it's tea you like - Bulgari, "The Vert" but I wonder if it is, actually, the "sheerness" you like?

If it is "sheer" you love, google Jean-Claude Ellena, who is probably the Prince of Translucent scents. And also Olivia Giacobetti - though she can be quite "playful". Both of them a million miles from "purple" fragrances (love the colour analogy).

Have fun!

thecat I love the analogy Grin Is not so much that I want something harder, but I'm a terrible creature of habit and don't want to limit myself to one shop.

And such a coincidence, but I've been googling to try to remember the name of the perfume I stopped a woman on the street and demanded the name of, and it's Le Labo 22 Bergamote. However, price is Shock so may need to set sights a little lower.

Try Annick Goutal, this is a fresh one that's good for summer

I also adore JM EG&C. I like Blackberry and bay and the bluebell one too but EG&C is my go to perfume.

If I'm not wearing that I wear Tom Ford Plum Japonais. It lovely and lasts for ever on skin.

Try Jo Loves - Jo Malone's own new venture.

I have recently discovered Penhaligans.Their Gardenia is gorgeous and I'm waiting to try the orange blossom and bluebell.Secondly sample Atelier Cologne if you enjoy sheer citrus scents with a bit of a twist.I can recommend Olene by Diptyque if you enjoy tuberose/wisteria notes.Annick Goutal is another range worth trying.
