Help me! My skin is awful - to peel or not to peel?

So, I'm approaching the big 3-0 this year and quite frankly, I have had it with my face. Big, horrid pores, acne scarring, hormonal acne, redness, the lot. I'm so miserable and I don't know what to do and feel like I will just be fugly forever. I have purchased Bravura's 2% daily salicylic peel but am scared it will just make things worse. Anyone got any positives to share? I also have the 10% GA peel but with so much active acne, I thought the salicylic might be better.

Also, I'm pretty sure it's hormonal as the only time my face has been clear was when I was on the pill. We are going to be TTC for baby number 2 pretty soon so I can't go down that route.

I cannot describe to you how awful my face looks - please help me!!

I should also say I do have a GP appointment for next week, but everything I've tried in the past has just left huge dry patches on my face which makes wearing make-up a nightmare.

GP is your best bet I think.
I've had similar problems and use a few different things which have helped loads:
Alpha H balancing cleanser
Bravura Moisturiser for sensitive/roseacea
Alpha H liquid gold
Alpha H rejuvenating cream

I've not tried the bravura salicylic stuff as I'm pregnant. I'm going to try the bravura glycolic night cream but can't until I'm done being pregnant and bfeeding as it has vitamin a in.

What moisturiser should I use afterwards? I've gor Effaclar Duo but that contains salicylic acid. I've also got jojoba oil, but I've stopped using that as it made my pores like craters. What's the Bravura moisturiser for sensitive skin like shop?

It's gorgeous Crime it's a light blue colour, feels very moisturising but sinks in well. Great under makeup.

I don't have roseacea but it's tricky finding a moisturiser that's not oil free or too thick - this is a little in between.

I'm 34 and went to the gp 2 weeks ago about my acne. I was given zineryt and it's really helping to clear it up. Worth asking your gp for it. I've also had duac gel in the past which was good too.

I'm really hoping that the GP will be helpful. It's pathetic, but it is going to take a lot for me to go without make-up. I've taken photos but they just don't portray the horrendousness enough!! I might order that moisturiser shop - I'm going to give the acid a go tonight and then see how we go. I've been prescribed Duac in the past too Fairylea, but I was too scared to use it and then I got pregnant with DC1! Thankyou all so much for your advice, here's hoping.

You need to see your GP and actually USE what is prescribed - what's the worst that could happen? You already aren't happy with your skin, they aren't going to make it worse.

Cetaphil cleanser, your Bravura 2% salicyclic acid and an oil-free moisturiser should help a lot but with lots of spots you will really need a prescription.
