Facial Pigmentation....I think?

I have noticed some brown marks around my eye area, top of cheek and upper lip. It is not too noticeable when I am wearing foundation every day but I can see it when I take my make up off at night. I was wondering if any of you know how to get rid of this or will it always be there? I have not been on a sun holiday for a long time but I know that the damage can be caused years ago. Any recommendations? Is this something I need to visit GP for?
TIA

Have you been pregnant recently? I get this very mildly when pregnant (I know some women suffer horribly with it, mine is only slight) and it takes a good few months to go each time.

I have had this for about 9 years now ,dark patches if pigmentation on forehead ,cheeks and upper lip
I lived abroad in my early twenties and think it is due to excess sun exposure
I went to see GP - they were not very helpful at all
I now use Factor 50 on my face in any summer weather or foreign Holidays
Use Veil Cover Cream to cover the worst areas
It also gets worse each time Im pregnant then fades slightly
Medical term is Melasma

I have this on my top lip, it's really annoying! I'm trying clinique even better dark spot corrector. I've only been using it a few weeks, apparently you can notice a difference from 4 weeks so I'll report back!

Hi hopefully no I haven't been pregnant recently so that is why I thought it was maybe some sort of damage but as I have not been on a sun holiday in years I wasn't sure what it could be. But I know that the damage could be done from a previous time is sun but to be honest I was never really lay in the sun all the time. They are not too noticeable with foundation on but I do notice it when I am not wearing any make up.

Loadsablusher - what is Veil Cover cream and does it just cover it up or help to get rid of it?

MrsGSR - yes please report back on how you are getting on as I would love to know how good it is.

I looked online at boots and saw eucerin corrector - has anyone used this?

I was going to go to GP about it...but I don't have high hopes there!!

Obagi Nu-Derm has excellent results

LoadsaBlusher · 12/06/2014 23:06

Veil cover cream is just a camouflage cream ,it doesn't make it go away
I was prescribed steroid cream years ago ,made no difference at all
I wish there was a miracle cure as my patches make my face look dirty unless I have the cover make up on
I was told it could be a genetic thing and is more prevalent in darker / olive skins

Nothing off the shelf will work. Clinique won't work. Obagi will work hut is pretty hard core to endure and takes weeks.

I had a couple of small patches of this, it was sun damage. My local spa does sciton laser therapy that gets rid of sun damage and boosts collagen. It was amazing and my skin looks incredible. A few days later I had black marks on my skin (like burnt toast) but these covered up easily with concealer and faded quickly and my skin looks almost airbrushed, the tone is very consistent, not blotchy at all. Sun damage has gone. It was followed 2 weeks later by microdermabrasion. I live in the US and the package of 2 treatments cost about gbp 100. Definitely recommend laser therapy for sun damage.
