So what bloody size ARE my feet?

Size 8 ballet pumps from Asda. Pinch a little and my feet are so wide the sides end up on the ground and hole.

Size 6.5 wide fit low wedges from la redoute. Like boats on me.

Everything has been pinching lately. I have a wide bridge. So I thought wide fit would be good. Except no.

I'm baffled. Think I would be as well wearing the boxes!

I hate how high my instep is - I struggle to find shoes with straps that are deep enough/have long enough straps.

catkind · 12/06/2014 01:06

Ooh, I have this too, except my big toe is shorter than the next two. Can occasionally get in Clarks wide fit 8s if it's a squarish style at the toes, otherwise it's pretty much mens styles.

Subbing for any tips!

Ooh, I have that shape feet too CorusKate! Wide at the front and narrow heels, like ducks feet Grin I can't wear ballet type pumps or court shoes because they just fall off my heel, can't get them to stay on.

you lost weight and your head got smaller?

CillaBlacksOrangeBouffant · 12/06/2014 04:58

I have a selection of shoe sizes from 3 up to 5. Dunno if it's vanity sizing like clothing or what but it's a pain in the arse

Nulliferous · 12/06/2014 05:52

I lost weight and my feet got smaller. But now they've spread out again. Another vote for only using European sizing. I'm a 42 (or 43), and I KNOW that fits. A British 8 varies wildly - often only a 41. Shoe shopping is the bane of my life.

Have a look at minimalist footwear like Vivobarefoot - they have a wide toe box to allow for natural splay but are pretty "normal" elsewhere.

kittykarate · 12/06/2014 11:25

I think shoe sizes are starting to vary too much. For years I have been a size 4, but now suddenly size 4s are 0.5 to one size to big. Has there been a global size realignment and I missed a memo?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 12/06/2014 15:55

I'm anything between a 6-8 depending on style and shop!

Notfootball · 12/06/2014 16:34

I detest shopping for shoes. I used to be a 40, went up to 41 after DCs and since being a SAHM (and wearing mostly flat boots, flip flops, ballet pumps or Birkies) I can be anything from 40-42. I think my feet have spread. I have over 100 pairs of shoes and most of the high heels no longer fit.

hiccupgirl · 12/06/2014 18:38

Not huge knuckles here but wide hands and good child bearing hips! Just good sturdy peasant stock I think Grin

froggers1 · 12/06/2014 18:47

I have wide feet at the front and narrow heels too...wear an 8 but think prob only a 7...I now go to Shoon and my shoes are all Josef Siebel..bought some new sandals the other day and like walking on air! They do online if you haven't got a shop near you....
