How do you stop summer shoes and sandals hurting your bare feet?

So I was wearing some pumps with bare feet today as it was a nice day ( till it started raining ) and after a few hours my toes started rubbing and hurting. When I took my shoes off, some of my toes were rubbed raw. Apart from wearing tights and knee highs, how do you stop this happening, any ideas?

I swear by Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. Put some on the minute they start to hurt. It's expensive but worth it. Only thing I've found it good for mind!

Foot socks which are the same shape as your shoe & doesn't cover the top of your foot iyswim but provides toe & heel protection.

I wear salt water sandals - everything else gives me blisters, even shoes I think I have broken in!

I use Lanacane anti-chafe gel. It's brilliant! Rub on as soon you get any sore spots & it works straight away.

I second the foot sock things ( from M and S and also Lanacane.

I try and wear mine in pretty gradually. If that fails, I wait a few days and then wear a plaster where you rubbed before.

Pumps I wear around the house with really thick socks to stretch them out a bit
Sandals = plasters!

Buy them from Clarks! I have a pair of sandals that DH thinks are the most gopping things he's ever seen, but I love them cos they are so comfortable - medium wedge heel, thick straps and T-bar. I also have Saltwater sandals and they're pretty comfy (never had blisters from them) but not quite as much as the Clarks. I bought some toe post sparkly sandals from Next about 3 weeks ago and I know I will never wear them even though they're lovely, because I know they won't be comfortable.

Thought it was just me with neurotic feet..... Having spent a small fortune on summer shoes over the years I now can only wear mephisto sandals.... (Thankfully frumpy is now cool)

This is brilliant I have one with me all the time.
I am Shock at the price of the Compeed one.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 12/06/2014 12:06

I second saltwater sandals as the most comofortable summer footwear on the market. Are awesome!

Wear them in gradually, and never wear converse or slip on shoes without socks (either wear trainer socks or those nude ballet pump shaped liners that they sell in m&s).

slackcabbage · 12/06/2014 12:25

Sympathies!! I have this problem every summer (think I started a thread aobut it last yr)

I tend to wrap my feet in micropore (stops blisters and thin enough not to create more) but will definitely investigate Compede stick and Lanacane solutions. Sadly, Avon don't deliver where I live.

I buy sandals from bhs with a cushioned bottom and soft leather straps.

My friends call the my granny sandals and I don't care. I love them!

I can wear them all day, everyday even for long walks with no discomfort.

They may not be stylish for some but I just bought a neutral colour that suit my feet and wear them with everything. I can't afford to have lots if pairs of expensive shoes so neutrality is important.

Saltwaters are the only sandals i can wear that don't rub or blister my super sensitive feet.

Lioninthesun · 12/06/2014 15:51

Get some SeaSalter sandals - you can walk into the sea with them and they literally mould to your feet. They have been my go to summer shoes 2 years in a row now Smile www.saltwater-sandals.com/

If you have pumps you can put socks on, pop them on, hair dryer on them so they are warm and walk around, repeat and soon they will have moulded to your feet.
