I want something to define the curls but not to dry crispy. I would prefer a professional range.

I use mousse. Let it dry and then scrunch it with your hands to get rid of crispness. Works for me.

Charles worthington curl cream is nice, it also has a lovely scent. Using too much gives my hair a bit of a wet-look though so using it sparingly is a good tip!

I used to use mousse when I was younger but went off it; however I have recently started using a gloss foam that was available in my hair salon and that works really well with no crispness.

By professional range do you mean from the salon rather than something from boots? If so then the Paul Mitchell sculpting foam is nice

marriednotdead · 10/06/2014 08:22

I use Sebastian Whipped Creme which isn't crunchy at all and really defines my curls Smile

Camsie30 · 10/06/2014 08:24

Shu Uemura Liquid Fabric is my absolute holy grail product for this. It makes my hair look like I've been on the beach, gives it texture without being sticky. It's quite pricey but I find one bottle lasts for 6 months

I buy Umberto Giannini Curl Friends Smoothing Balm from Boots. I have tried many expensive products over the years and this works better than all of them.

I apply liberally on wet hair after it's been plopped on my head for a while, twisting curls with my fingers here and there. Then I let it dry & get bouncy, soft, well-defined curls.

Kittykat7 · 10/06/2014 10:51

Thanks everyone. I'm not in the UK so can't get products from Boots. I mean a professional range used in salons. I can buy from a hair & beauty wholesalers so I can get professional ranges much cheaper.

Has anyone tried this

warm air and a breeze.

If I had the money and could get it cheaper - I love paul Mitchell twirl around cream and the awapuhi hair oil (same make)
The hairdresser uses it on my curly hair and it smells amazing and makes my hair really soft

naturalbaby · 10/06/2014 15:21

Awapuhi is worth every penny just for the smell! I've heard good things about the Kerastase range, the orange one. I'm in a hot and humid country at the moment so interested in recommendations.

I'm going to try the Aveda Be Curly. Thanks everyone.

Kitty, I got the Aveda Be Curly and was very disappointed. It was very heavy and gluggy. I had a fit of inspiration however, so put a blob of it into a spray bottle and diluted it 8-1 with tap water. Sprayed on the dilute mix onto air-dried hair and scrunch. It is fantastic used like this - no crunchy residue and does enhance curl - so bear that in mind if using it out of the tube doesn't suit your hair.

Kittykat7 · 14/06/2014 15:56

Thanks H20woe.
I tried morrocian oil as it's nice to blow dry straight with. It was ok but I have seen a Nude professional range by Loreal curl bounce so I will give that a try.

There is NOTHING better than Kerstase leave in conditioner, IME.

This one

cremedecacao · 14/06/2014 16:46

Another vote for Aveda Be Curly!

Or mix any curl serum with a little argan oil instead.

rollonthesummer · 14/06/2014 16:50

To the person who said using x product made their hair look like they'd been on the beach--is that a good thing?! When I'm at the beach, my hair is dry and frizzy! What am I doing wrong?!
