Wedding of a very close friend is the 4th July.
Baby is one.
Went on the hen do Saturday night and I shit you not all the women (35 in number) were trim and stylish.
I had gold plated intentions of getting fit after pregnancy (buggered up CS needing extensive physio to even be able to walk let alone run).
Baby doesn't sleep so I am fuelled mostly by sugar.
ANY attempt to ditch carbs erodes my milk supply.

I'm fat, frumpy and pushing forty. My face is bloated and my skin is shit. Older dd is a bridesmaid and I've been told already I'll be in quite a few photos.

I don't know what to wear, makeup, hair and quite fancy a hole in the ground or paper bag.

Usually I do spend on an occasion like this but I'm not really able to this time. I looked at Joe Brown halter nexk summery dresses but as I'm still feeding I have boobs the size of watermelons and several other bumps in the wrong places. Pre baby I was a slim size 10/12. Now I have no idea.

Myfirst S&B thread. Please be gentle!

loved reading this thread - I'm inspired. I have a big event next month that could lead to an amazing opportunity - I'm now inspired to get back on the wagon (after a fuck it few days).
Eyelet - i love the dresses! bet you'll look super!! Good luck x

jalapenobusiness · 19/06/2014 11:09

ps - you chose my favourite dress.

Sigh - now looking at hair options, was debating going with a fascinator with hair twisted and curled 1950s style but I think it will make me look like my mother on a bad day dated!

And shoes. Le sigh. I hate high heels and will need to wear sheer tights due to pale legs could almost do with some spanx for my thighs!.

Bath with Epsom salts and exfoliate to get circulation going
Eat salad couscous eggs and ryvita
Tummy control underwear
Do sit ups or any other exercises you can face doing
Avoid sugar, you will stop craving it.

Not that I do any of this myself right now but I have done and it does work plus you will feel fab.

(Goes off to eat biscuits)

Great news! You will look gorgeous! Definitely go for a hat/fascinator it will really finish the outfit, if you really wanted to go the 50s route, little black gloves would be tres chic, I went to a wedding a few years ago and wore quite a simple dress but got my hair put up 40s style and wore a little black netted pillbox hat and little black gloves- got lots of compliments all day :) have you thought about booking someone to do your make up, it always makes me feel extra special on big days.

kaykayblue · 19/06/2014 17:23

You chose my favourite dress too!!

I would actually strongly recommend that you go for a pashmina rather than a bolero. It will look beautiful, and it won't drown the dress. But will still cover your arms!!

For your hair I think it would look great if you get a really good blow dry and maybe put a thin black head band in. Or you can get one of those fascinators that are on a band?

FallonColby · 19/06/2014 18:26

I agree with KayKay, it's such a beautiful dress that a bolero might take away from it.

Jesus this is me. I have no idea what to do with my mammaries. Still fat as fuck and bfing at 18 months. Wedding is 26th July, everyone else I know who is going has a normal sized chest and a waist the absolute Bastards.

help!

I thought a peacock feather fascinator but apparently thats bad luck at a wedding!

What do people think of this now? Link above as it refuses to paste where I want it!

Also. Shoes. Tights? Jewellery? I have a silver thin bangle I never leave off and small stud earrings.

No, not a pashmina. I don't think people still wear those to weddings, do they?

Eyelet · 22/06/2014 22:27

I will be managing two small children, so I think a pashmina will be hard to keep looking nice.
