I am going to buy my first pair of LEGGINGS tomorrow

Oh yes I am! I want to wear dresses/longish tunics (I know - I am the antithesis of style) but don't want to reveal my milk bottle legs. Please could you advise me:

where to buy them
how do I make sure I don't get leggings that will go baggy at the knee
are they cooler (as in not as warm) as tights?

I don't mind the world seeing my legs from the knees down, but the tunic I have doesn't even get to short dress length.

No, I won't wear leggings with tunic (even though I mentioned doing so in my OP). I think I meant skinnies for wearing with tunics. I've finally lost enough weight to pluck up courage to buy some skinnies and, according to Style & Beauty, they are on their way out

Why are leggings suddenly verboten?

I bloody love leggings. Just bought a pair from Target for $8. (Am in Aus, so it's winter here.)

I am another fan if the sainsbury single pack leggings but they are rather thick for the summer
