Need t to find swimming cossie for short-bodied, large-chested 15yo DD

So... she needs a cossie to wear under her wetsuit tomorrow and has grown out of last years, I got one from sainsbos which I thought would fit (based on it fitting me, we're same height and similar weight - ~60kg so she's not slim, quite a muscular build) but it's too long in the body. She's 5'1" but evidently even shorter bodied than me. But she's a 34 DD (actually I think a bit bigger now) - the obvious solution of tankinis all the ones I've seen seem to have quite small cups (or be decidedly mummyish).

I can get to M&S, Next, sports direct or New Look on the retail park.

If anyone happens to have come across a swimsuit that meets these criteria (and which a teen won't go Hmm at) I'd be most grateful!

What about a tankini? Many have built in cups. The vest part is usually long enough to meet the bottoms. I got one last year in debenhams but would expect m&s and next to have some too.

Realise you said tankini above - got carried away because mine was so nice! I'm a 30 DD and high waisted so usually wear bikini on holiday but was newly pregnant last year.

Anything with actual cups (which most tankinis seem to have) she'll really need to try on. She hates clothes shopping at the best of times (which swimwear shopping almost never is!) I'll have to drag her out to the shops before the summer hols to find something nice.

I got a tankini in M&S - as I've not worn it I asked her if she wanted to try it and got the Hmm look. too mummyish I guess. Debenhams that day (early last month IIRC) looked like it had loads but they didn't have anything with a top and a bottom which would fit me - they seemed to have lots of big sizes left but precious little 10/12. Not sure if I was too early or too late for a proper selection!

kelly brook @ NL

Ermm, it's going to be under a wetsuit, so does she really care what it looks like? How about saying 'rather than wrecking a decent new cossie under that sweaty wetsuit, I'll let you borrow mine'?

CMOTDibbler · 06/06/2014 14:46

Have a look at the boyleg Slazenger ones in SD - they are very forgiving as a fit, and with the boyleg the body length doesn't matter so much.

Or a tankini top and swim shorts?

5madthings · 06/06/2014 14:49

I got a brilliant tankini from bravissimo last week, they do proper cup sizes and they are brilliantly supportive.

I also have a good sswimming costume from George at asda, just plain black but I am same height as your dd and big busted 32g/gg and it fits fine.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/06/2014 14:49

Ha, that's pretty much what I did say! Grin Not sure she's too worried about the look (so long as it fits) but I guess swimwear is too much like underwear for her to contemplate borrowing mine.

Thanks for those thoughts - some of those will help when I drag her out for holiday cossie. I've got to head out now. My asda didn't have anything suitable in the right size when I looked a couple of weeks back but if the retail park fails I'll pop in there on the way back.

Actually, super-cheap is the way to go for under a wetsuit. Cheap, unshaped, bog-standard cossie material tends to be stretchier.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/06/2014 17:42

Yes, I agree - the sainsbos one will do me nicely for this when my current one expires. Support isn't really an issue when you've got neoprene and then a buoyancy aid keeping everything in place! Grin I've got her a slazenger from SD - a princely £8 or so. Not the boyleg, they looked like they'd ruck up. If that doesn't fit her, I could be doing a late night trip to asda! Hmm

I'd second Bravissimo for a nice one for the holidays. Pricey but good quality.
