Different types of keratin treatment - anyone know whether it's worth paying more for La Brasiliana?

I'm just phoning around for prices for a 'Brazilian Blow Dry' and prices are varying from 80-150.

One woman I spoke to said if I research, I'll understand why it's more for a product called La Brasiliana.

I've been having the treatment for a few years now, but I don't know which brand I've had. It usually lasts 3-4 months on my fine, wavy hair.

I'd love to know any personal recommendations rather than just reading marketing blurb.

Wait a minute.

It's £16.50 on Amazon. Shall I just do it myself and save £133.50?

How hard can it be...?

I've done the Amazon one 3 times on my long hair. It's pretty easy. Last time not as effective but on discussing with hairdresser she thinks I put too much on (I did slap it on). She said less is best as if you overload the hair doesn't cope with it and you won't look as slick.

I've used the Amazon one myself, and didn't get particularly good results.

I think it really depends how thick/curly/long your hair is though. Mine is past my shoulders and really thick. It took a friend, who is a hairdresser, a few hours to do and within a month my hair was back to normal.

If I remember right you have to wash your hair with the special shampoo, then blow dry strait. You then apply the keratin stuff & blow dry again. Then you have to straighten in sections running the straighteners over each part about 7 times. Then you can wash it or tie it up for 3 days.

However I know there were a lot of people on here who really recommended it & got good results. If it's something you usually have done anyway then it's probably worth giving it a go. You need strong arm muscles though and maybe someone to help with the back as if there are any kinks then you're stuck with them. Also make sure you've got a few hours free!

Thanks Angie, which one did you use? I just realised what I thought was the brazilian blow dry is actually some kind of after-treatment product.

I'm struggling to see which product I need!

Also, I'd prefer the 24 hour version rather than the 3 days.

my hair is only jaw length and fine, but I'm crap at doing that blow dry thing on the back of my head. hmmm...

It's the one on AMazon, in a white box with a girls hair picture on the front called Brazillian keratin hair straightening thingy? It will come up as soon as you type in.

I did the same one as AngieM2 last week and am v happy with the results. I've got thick, not properly curly but all-over-the-place hair in a long bob that I would usually blow dry straight and then straighten whereas I now basically rough dry it (with a bit of brushing) and the result is the same. It's only been a week so don't know how long it will last, but I'd say go for it and see - might save yourself a small fortune!

Hmmm, very tempting...

anyone else know if the woman was talking nonsense about La Brasiliana being worth the extra expense?
