Wavy hair cut short - can I?

I'm trying to persuade someone to cut my hair short-short. At the moment it is short at the back but longer at the front, I want all over short - think Tamsin Greig in Episodes.

I am having difficulty finding someone to do it for me as a couple of people have said it's wavy and will not work. But I spoke to someone else who said this is typical of our slightly provincial town where they just won't take the risk.

I kind of figure it's my hair and it'll grow back....

The reason for wanting it so short is that I am 40, going very grey and I am allergic to hair dye and I don't like long grey hair.....

Any thoughts?

In my traumatic hair experience, long wavy hair can end up as short curly hair - and look pants.

Is it likely to ping up when it's short? It's hard to get a fringe on curly hair.

I think short wavy hair can be lovely. How about something like this?

Currently, I don't have a fringe, I have a v short inverted bob which I inevitably straighten every morning that I am working and yes it does ping up if I don't straighten it.

springing that is exactly the sort of thing I was after but I can't get anyone to do it thus far. In fact, it doesn't look wildly dissimilar to that when I don't straighten it - just a lot less classy obviously!

I find I get a better cut if I go in with my hair straight and have it blow dried straight.
when I go in curly/wavy it seems to be very random.
so, I get a straight cut, then it's fine when I leave it to dry naturally.
personally, I have found few good curly-hair cutters.

I think you need a good hairdresser - it's a nuanced cut and your hairdresser has to "get it" :-)

I do think it's the optimum haircut though, and if your hair is pretty much doing it naturally, then it seems like a good choice for you!
