Help me with a summer wardrobe

Help! I've just been looking through my wardrobe - about one third is stuff my mum has bought, decided she didn't like and passed on to me, about one third is over 5 years old (eg pilled knitwear) and one third is reasonable. I have a bit of money to spend - maybe £100 to £150. If I could I'd live in jeans and tees and even my workwear tends to run along the "smarter" trousers/pull on top theme. I'm 40 something, 5foot 6, size 16. My fav colours are blues and purples but most of my wardrobe is black or the colour combinations my mum favours (we have very different skin tones & hair colour). I find clothes shopping an exhausting, confusing, depressing experience. I need some help pointing me towards an interesting, non-frumpy, reasonably trendy, set of clothes to see me through the summer

I should also add I hate my legs and bottom but am ok with skirts & dresses if I can wear them with opaque tights. I have good boobs but work with teenage boys so like to be reasonably covered up at work.

First off give all the mum stuff to charity, chuck all the past it's best stuff or demote it to gardeneing/decorating gear. Organise what you have left.

Buy a few good mix and match basics;

Pair flat strappy sandals
One knee length cotton skirt
Linen trousers
If T shirts are too revealing a couple of more structured sleeveless shell tops.

Buy them in colours you love and that suit you.

Online shopping is the way to go if you hate shops. You should be able to get all the above on your budget.
Try NEXT online - they have a wide selection in several lengths/fits and a quick delivery service.

You can ring the changes with scarves, jewellry, bags etc.

If I buy stuff online will it be easy for me to return it - is it ok to say that it doesn't suit me, or don't like fabric etc?

Maxi skirts/dresses are a good option if you hate your legs. You don't have to do strapless either.

Asos great for online and H&M and next directory.

Oh and yes you can return but check policy.
