Accessories for a wedding

I'm going to a wedding in a couple of weeks and am wearing this dress (I already own it and money is tight, so I could buy something else but it'd have to be gorgeous) - www.asos.com/Warehouse/Warehouse-Stencil-Floral-Print-Shift-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3413996&r=2

What would you do in terms of accessories? Any jewellery? What shoes? I was going to wear nude wedges but I'm not sure, maybe a bright colour would be better, or black. I have black and nude but no colours. Also am unsure about a bag.

We will be outside a lot so in worried about being cold - the sleeves are quite wide so it's hard to get a cardigan over, they bunch up. Any suggestions?

Sorry for all the questions! And my budget is small so we're definitely talking high street Smile

I also have a dress similar to this www.lyst.com/clothing/hm-lace-dress-blue/ though mine is floral lace not swirly.

What do you think?

I love the first dress! I hate nude shoes but think think the wedges would probably look good. I would get a cute clutch matching one of the colours of the flowers and a pashmina!

dylanthedragon · 05/06/2014 20:05

I think the first dress is really nice. Nude shoes would be fine if you didn't want to get something new but A bright shoe would be lovely as well. The green/aqua flower is the one jumping out at me. New Look have some nice green wedge sandals for under £20 (sorry I'm on my phone so can't link).

Is the white flower pure white or is it off white? I would go for a fairly neutral bag - would new look's cream colour block twist lock clutch go?

On keeping warm, I think a wrap or cardi would ruin the look of the dress. You might need to shiver or a thermal vest underneath that you can whip off before the reception! [Smile]

Thanks, I will take a look at new look.

The reception is outside, in the garden. That's why I'm hesitant about the first dress - there isn't going to be anywhere to shelter for warmth, and I don't think a pashmina will be enough, even if the weather is nice, once it gets late.

Is this nice? I've been looking at dresses so long I've lost all perspective! www.asos.com/Goldie/Goldie-All-Over-Lace-Bodycon-Dress/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4196424&cid=12970&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=36&sort=-1&clr=Blue

To be honest, I prefer the dresses you already have.

What about a loose blazer to keep warm? New look (again) have one called mint green waterfall blazer but I've seen this style in a few shops. It wouldn't look as bumpy in the arms as a cardigan would if the sleeves on the dress are wide. If you went with a coloured blazer, you could stick with your neutral shoes.

Sorry for not linking -I really should get off my bum and get the laptop!

dylanthedragon · 05/06/2014 20:45

The coral crepe oversize blazer in NL would also be nice if you wanted a bolder colour.

LucyTheValiant · 05/06/2014 20:54

I like the blazer but I don't know if it would suit me.

Can you wear red to a wedding? I like this a lot. It's sold out in my size but I might find something similar www.asos.com/Asos/Asos-Skater-Dress-With-Lace-Sleeves/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=3455647&cid=8799&Rf-200=1&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=204&sort=-1&clr=Red

You really want a new dress, don't you!

I can't see a problem with red at a wedding, assuming it's a standard bride in white affair. Some cultures have the bride in red so I wouldn't if that was the case. I dont suit red but i know there were a few guests in red dresses at my wedding.

LucyTheValiant · 05/06/2014 21:05

Haha I do! I'm getting carried away! I must stop and just wear what I own.

Right, no, I'm wearing the first dress. I do actually love it, I'm just getting carried away.

And I like the blazers, but I'm worried about it being too much 'bagginess' iykwim. I'm not sure blazers suit me. I feel awkward in them. I not fashionable enough to pull off a blazer.

Maybe I'll just get drunk so I don't feel the cold...

The first dress is the best, it's lovely and more expensive looking than the others

mummiebummie · 05/06/2014 21:30

I really like it and would buy it myself but it looks really short on the model. What length is it on you?

dylanthedragon · 05/06/2014 21:31

Or go with the thermal vest - no one will ever know! Grin

LucyTheValiant · 05/06/2014 21:34

It is long on me. I had to take it up an inch or two. But I am a five foot two shorty so ought not be used as a comparator for most people.

I am liking the thermal vest idea!

(And thank you for your patience Dylan!)

I think a boyfriend blazer over a shift dress really works. These kind of proportions:

That is nice! I was imagining a sack of potatoes... Hmm. I might try the coral new look blazer. I have a light grey clutch that if have just remembered, does that sound ok? I will try to find a pic.
