Stable poolside holiday make-up help?

So we are off to Kos imminently and my DH is always bleating on about me wearing make up the whole time, but I physically can't bring myself to go makeup free for an entire week!! What do you take with you, waterproof or otherwise, on your summer hols ? Thanks

Make up doesn't spoil enjoyment of a holiday!? Confused

I put in on in the morning and it is good for most of the day. If face sweats I just re- blend / rub it in. If I wasn't wearing any it is not as if I would be constantly washing face anyway. I have worn make on hot beach holidays and active holidays such as skiing. Have never felt out of place.

DH does not get a say, he met me wearing make up. It's part of my morning routine like getting dressed and brushing teeth.

Not all make up looks are OTT either, some look quite natural...

capsium · 31/05/2014 12:54

I don't really tan though, so have never been really interested in tanning.....

GertrudeBell · 31/05/2014 16:22

I have no problem with people disagreeing with the need for make up on holiday. Each to their own.

But this --> "I think you probably need more help with your issues than you do make-up tips TBH" makes out that OP has issues which she should seek help with.

That poster has no concern about the OP, is just trying to assert her superiority. I think it's a shitty attitude when someone is just chatting about make up.

HI Gertrude, you're entitled to your opinion but if a friend of mine told me they "physically can't bring myself to go makeup free" they yes, I would be very worried about them and consider they needed help.

Op wasn't just asking for make-up tips, she was distressed at the thought of maybe having to not wear it round the pool. Unless I completely, mis-interpreted the tone of her post, as you have mine.

GertrudeBell · 31/05/2014 16:35

Yes, I think it's pretty obvious that you've misinterpreted her post. Don't recall her using the word "distressed", that's your spin. OP's on Style and Beauty, not a psychologist's couch.

'OP's on Style and Beauty, not a psychologist's couch.'

ITS A THIN LINE Grin

Chicinwellies · 31/05/2014 17:46

Haha hilarious.
I am neither worrying about it spoiling my holiday nor is it causing problems with DH, but thanks for the concern.
To everyone else great tips thanks, no faceful of makeup required but I was just interested in others
Tips. :0) thanks all.

I have eyelash extensions before a holiday - no worrying about panda eyes! Tinted sunblock and a bit of cream blush. Sorted.

TheAwful I have to put something on my face anyway, to prevent sun burn. It might as well be something I think looks good. No confidence issues, just like the way I look with make up.

capsium · 01/06/2014 20:11

I read somewhere that Kohl protects they eyes from dusty environments...

littlegreengloworm · 01/06/2014 20:17

I usually get brows tinted and wear a light facial tan, sunglasses too

Cocolepew · 01/06/2014 20:20

Big sunglasses and lipstick.

TheBuskersDog · 01/06/2014 20:27

I know make-up often has SPF in it but presumably that doesn't last all day and I wouldn't want to rely on it in a hot climate. I am someone who always uses foundation or BB cream at home but don't wear any during the day on holiday, I use a high SPF facial sunscreen which I re-apply through the day - those of you that wear make-up do you have to remove it and re-apply?

specialsubject · 01/06/2014 20:34

whether you put on the slap or not, please please PUT A LAYER OF REAL SUNSCREEN UNDER IT.

you are going to the Med, at near-peak-UV, to sit by a reflective surface and, I fear, deliberately sunbathe. This is not the time for the useless 'city block' crap.

factor 30 applied every 2 hours. Or you'll look like a tomato by the end of day 1, and a peeled one by the end of day 2.

capsium · 01/06/2014 20:35

TheBuskersDog I wear mineral make up which also acts like physical sunblock but I wouldn't rely on this somewhere really hot. Lots of tinted sun screens around though. I don't go anywhere really hot, I am very fair but have never burnt under mineral make up or even caught the sun. Before I used mineral make up I found I could put sun cream on top of foundation on my face, just blended it in. I catch the sun on my body though, especially if missed a bit with the sun cream. I wear a sun hat when it is very sunny.

Madamecastafiore · 01/06/2014 20:39

The thought if reblending anything on a sweaty face can so not be good for your skin??

Get lashes and brows done and use a day cream with a self tan for a couple of weeks beforehand.

capsium · 01/06/2014 20:42

Madame what do you think you do when you put more sun cream on top of old stuff? Do you wash your face in between? Do you wash your lips before applying more of the same lipstick?

paulapantsdown · 01/06/2014 20:47

I think you are a lightweight on the make up front op! There was a woman at our hotel last year in full make up everyday, and she matched her glittery eye shadow to her bikini and flip flops! So one day, pink eye shadow, pink bikini, pink flips flops, next day blue etc.

There were also earrings and hair do-das too.

We used to really look forward to seeing her every morning.
