Before and whilst I was pregnant I was using Mitchum roll on deodorant, which suited me perfectly for a long while.

However, since I gave birth (5 weeks ago) it just doesn't work on me. I smell a bit....erm...fruity most of the time. Think it's a combination of night sweats and losing pregnancy fluid. I have heard that this can happen. I have also tried a Sure spray deodorant which doesn't help either.

Has this happened to anyone else? What products would you recommend?

Thanks in advance Thanks

I used to use Aloevera roll on deodarant to neutralise the odour & then Simple or Dove roll on top.

This is me too! DS is 9 weeks old and EBF and I am a STINKER.

I don't even smell fresh when I come out the shower (and have tried Sanex recommended above). I need to look at the anti pers mentioned here (altho so many make me sore & itchy).

When will it end? Only when I finish breastfeeding?

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 13/06/2014 13:20

sainbury's sell a sports wash liquid called Halo, its the only thing that took the sweaty smell out of DS2's dance kit. amazing it is.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 13/06/2014 13:23

I use Australian Bodycare t-tree wash and body lotion, which combined with Mitchum to keep the actual dampness away does the job.

Also - since I have been doing the 5:2 diet I sweat far, far less. Really loads less.

hollycomputer · 13/06/2014 13:23

Perspirex. It's awesome. You only need to apply it every 2-3 days and it stops any sweating or smells. It's a roll-on and you have to leave it to dry otherwise it can be a bit itchy.

Darkhorsefor1 · 14/06/2014 10:31

' the Guvnor' by Lush, its a powder, doesn't make me itch. I've found with most roll ons etc either it has me scratting, or stinking. I do 5:2 and still stink, maybe need to drink less coffee and more water? Is that what you do alibaba?

Darkhorsefor1 · 14/06/2014 10:35

Sanex used to do a hypoallergenic one, but not seen it for a while. Love the washing clothes with vinegar idea, suppose it does the machine good too.

So glad its not just me that pen and inks, would love a glam spillage instead of eau de cat litter.??

Darkhorsefor1 · 14/06/2014 10:36

Sillage not spillage. Or silage.

alemci · 14/06/2014 10:44

Yes Driclor makes me itch terribly but it has stopped the embarrassing wet patches and that horrible feeling.

I won't bother over the Summer. I never sweat on holiday etc so I think it is stress related to some extent and rushing around.

Always wear cotton, don't entertain man made fibres.

NerdyBird · 14/06/2014 20:41

Mitchum do a new cream stick like the Dove and Sure ones. It's working better than those for me. The Mitchum roll on is good but gives me a rash. Interesting about post-pregnancy, I'm 35 weeks and planning to bf so I'll be on the lookout for extra sweatiness!

ogredownstairs · 14/06/2014 20:51

Perspirex - works brilliantly and you only need to use it once or twice a week. It does itch/irritate a bit at first, but if you make sure your skin is completely dry first and put it on in the morning (ignore the recommendation to put it on at night) it's bearable. Changed my life!

phoneyjoanie · 14/06/2014 22:20

Dove or Sure 48 hour ones are great.Mitchum and Driclor don't work so well for me. It seems to fluctuate with hormones and pregnancy and I expect it to stabilise and hopefully return to normal soon.

autumnsmum · 15/06/2014 10:55

I ff and sweAted horribly I always wash white tops at 60 degrees

wafflyversatile · 15/06/2014 11:05

The BO smell of sweat is caused by the bacteria that live on it. Their excreta is what smells so bad. Also one's armpit smell tends to 'infect' the armpits of some tops, and the armpits of one's tops seem to 'reinfect' one's armpits after you've been wearing it for an hour or two. Angry

One needs to treat both armpits and clothes. Low degree washes aren't any good.

For body I suggest an anti-bacterial wash. Maybe a tea-tree oil one. I'm currently experimenting with one of those anti-bacterial gels as I so happen to have one sitting around. Every 2 or 3 days I put it on my armpits before my bath. Seems to be going ok so far.

For clothes something like vanish oxy action in the wash or even dip the armpits in a solution of it. Alternatively dipping armpits in a glass of boiling water for a minute or two before putting in the wash has also worked for me.

mousmous · 15/06/2014 11:10

nivea dry confidence roll on.
and what the others said about cleaning clothes.
since dc I cam't ge away with wearing tops mire than one day anymore.
wash at 40 with bio detergent works for most stuff. sports stuff get some detol liquid.

mousmous · 15/06/2014 11:12

and washing the pits with soap.
I use a bar + flannel in the shower for a good scrub.

3littlefrogs · 15/06/2014 11:15

I use a combination of several methods for DS's stinky sports kit.
Recently I have tried spraying the arm pits with antibacterial spray before washing, then adding dettol washing/rinsing stuff to the wash. that helps, as does adding white vinegar.

autumnsmum · 15/06/2014 12:58

Waffly I've found with some tops that I just wear them a couple of hours and they smell sweaty again

wafflyversatile · 15/06/2014 13:16

It's like your sweat is 'reconstituting' the top's armpit smell?

Try what I've described above.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 17/06/2014 17:20

like I said, try Halo washing liquid for sweaty clothes, gets all the residue of sweatiness out in a normal wash and don't need loads of it. two caps and lovely clean clothes, I prefer it to anything else i have used, great for slightly smelly towels too.
