Hot weather tops for the well endowed

Every summer I have the same problem, what do you ladies wear in very hot weather if you are well endowed in the chest area?
The type of weather I'm talking about is when everyone around you is wearing shorts and vests/tiny suntops to keep cool. Vest tops are totally out for me and I usually end up wearing a blouse which is really not appropriate.I suppose I'm looking for a suntop type thing that really doesn't emphasise my chest, does it really exist? I don't mind exposing my arms though, don't have a problem with them!

I think a nice sleeveless blouse trumps vest tops any day. Also cotton sundresses instead of vest top and shorts combo.

I agree with you totally bouquet, but I quite often feel that people around me are thinking ' how can she wear blouses etc in this weather?'also cotton dresses look lovely but I have to wear ones with quite a loose top half or shirt dress so it doesn't cling.

Try pepperberry dresses

I'm currently 34h & I find vests best tbh- scoop neck or v neck but never spaghetti straps-always something to cover bra straps.

Had the same problem for years.
Apparently Matalan has a good range this year? Of casual tops at least.

RaisingSteam · 28/05/2014 21:22

Why are vests out? I have a couple of these in the less retina-burning colours and they are really comfortable and cover up over your bra.

Or the sort of vest that has proper shoulders not shoestring straps, or a cap sleeve, scoop neck T shirt?

I think as long as you have a good bra, fitted can look better than baggy in tops.

RaisingSteam · 28/05/2014 21:26

Actually there are those White Stuff scoop neck T shirts that come in lots of colours, in hot weather the thin cheap fabric is an advantage! too many to list but this sort of thing

If those are too frumpy, not sure I can help!

proper White Stuff link

VarsityQueen · 28/05/2014 21:54

Agree about White Stuff tops being quite flattering and softening for a heavy bust

Raising I've got that White stuff top on the pink. I'm a 30EE and its very flattering. Had lots of lovely comments.

PacificDogwood · 28/05/2014 22:04

I have a couple of [[http://www.marksandspencer.com/secret-support-cotton-rich-dd-g-bra-vest/p/p22300836 these] from M+S (I am a 34G) and find them very comfortable in really hot weather. They avoid the whole bra-strap issue.

Thanks for the White Stuff links - I may just have to flex my credit card… Grin
Anybody have a WS discount code??

PacificDogwood · 28/05/2014 22:04

try again

PluggyMug · 28/05/2014 22:14

I'd quite like a wrap type top or deep v type thing. I find scoop neck or 'flat' fronts just make me look even bigger.

RaisingSteam · 28/05/2014 23:41

If you sign up for emails White Stuff constantly send you 15% off. They just sent me SEA-AKWN which is good until 31st?

I have gone off wrap tops, they always fall open and need pinning together.

PacificDogwood · 28/05/2014 23:46

Oh thank you, RaisingSteam, I might just give that a whirl Smile

PluggyMug · 29/05/2014 01:23

I've just looked at Pepperberry and am surprised at how much choice there is. The sizing looks a bit confiding though so maybe easier to go in and try on rather than internet shop?

Sorry cant do clicky link but this top is just the ticket. Banana Republic, grosgrain-strap tank. The white is a bit see-through but the navy would be nice with white shorts/capris. I tried it on today, perfect for covering the bra straps. Not cotton though and you definitely need to size down. It comes up very big.

Sonotkylie · 29/05/2014 08:42

I think it depends on the vest. I have always been anti vest but last year found myself wearing and liking a thin strapped vest from Gap with a suitable coloured bra strap underneath. I haven't worked out why that one works and others don't though. So your mission is to try on all the vests on the high streets and find the one that works for you!
I normally wear very thin cotton pretty loose fitting shirt with sleeves rolled up. I have a few, all old. One from White Stuff I think, one from Gap and a couple of others. Stops me worrying about burning too ...!

Oh dear, the grammatical error on the page caused me to click away before looking.

seasalty50 · 29/05/2014 18:11

Bought a couple of vest things from monsoon today, wide straps and good quality at £16 each.
