60's / 70's/ indie chick Style bloggs

I feel like I have lost my way in the style sense. I used to wear 60's and 70's vintage when I was in my teens and 20's. Now nearing mid 40's I realise I am a frumpy mummy.

I am well on my way to losing the extra weight, but cant seem to find my style mojo.
I have been looking for some style bloggs but the only vintage ones seem to be aimed at the 30's to 50's look which isn't right for me. The more rock/ indie chick ones are for teens. If I was a lot younger I love the way Daisy Lowe dresses and also do love Pearl Lowes look, but not keen on the things on her website.

Can anyone recommend any good style bloggs please?

Oooh, hello Smile

I am late sixties- seventies obsessed Grin and idly wondered the same thing. My only concession to age is to eshew floral prints as, at 36, it is no longer ironic for me to dress like my grandma. Pretty much everything I wear now is vintage. I also cannot bear the 50s vintage look- I prefer the styles which rebelled against them, so it makes sense. Unfortunately, I think we are in minority.

The only blogs I check regularly are miss pandora (she's brilliantly French and VERY affected), and Vintage Vixen who puts together some fab outfits, although her hair and make-up is not my bag. Man.

Ooh tethersend I was going to say Vintage Vixen. Her attitude is fab. I will look at Miss Pandora too.

I am early 40s and feel I like to be "fashiony" (technical term Wink), slightly edgy and a little bit vintage/boho. Or as a friend said "you always look a bit retro". I might look a bit silly but hopefully never frumpy! Best thing is to be comfortable with your own style.

Hello tethersend and quirkychick Thank you that's a good find on Vintage Vixen, I do wish I was that brave, but she is amazing and definitely some great ideas on there.

Its hard to find things as most retro/vintage fairs I've been to recently are all just 30's/40's/50's. yes yes yes to the rebelling against the very prim look. Bright colour jeans are on my hit list when I lose the weight. That's the thing, I don't feel comfortable I feel fat, old and frumpy. I want to get back to feeling like me again.

I tried to start pinning things in Pinterest, but gave up because I don't really understand it.

My friend has a blog which she updates sporadically Style High Club and she links to some others from there as she is similarly 60s/70s obsessed...

quirkychick · 27/05/2014 17:36

nickdrakeslovechild not a blog but what about pinterest? Loads of ideas (warning: you can spend your life on there... ).

You could try small changes, like vintage accessories and gradually go from there. Not dependent on your size, either. Congratulations on the weight loss btw. Fashion is supposed to be fun.

I like Vintage Vixen's bright nails and loads of jewellery, so I can use a toned down version of that IYSWIM. Lots of "festival" stuff around with a late 60s/70s vibe atm. Fringy bags, furry gilets/boas, fedoras, piles of bangles...Whatever you fancy, really. Asos had a whole load of festival stuff on sale (I may have been tempted by some fringy bags and silver sandals). Not discounting authentic vintage finds either.

Have fun finding your mojo Smile.

Also, check out this girl's blog... everything's so pretty!

tethersend · 27/05/2014 20:29

She looks great, but goth is really not my thing.

BabCNesbitt · 27/05/2014 21:14

I love Style Sixties and Sewing the 60s, although they both make me feel like a lazy git as I will never learn how to thread a sewing machine, let alone make replica 60s dresses from my imaginary Crimplene stash.

nickdrakeslovechild · 28/05/2014 12:48

Thank you all for your recommendations, I have tried pintrest but there is so much stuff it takes forever, BloodFlower she is a bit too goth for me.

I like your friends blog tethersend I will keep looking at that one.
BabCNesbitt those are exactly the sort of thing I used to wear and make. Looks lovely on someone a bit younger, but maybe a bit to young for me now.
