Ok in an attempt to overhaul my overweight, make up free body and try and make an effort I am looking for a skin care overhaul!
However, I am confused by all the STUFF out there!
I get the cleanse tone moisturise thing but there are facial oils and serums and I don't know what goes on when!
Currently using Clinique wash off facial cleanser, and Lidl moisturiser!! Clinique cleanser is making my face feel a bit tight these days- skins getting drier post 40.
( I'm 46 ).
HeRing a lot about hot cloth cleansers and have a cloth from when I tried one before. Are these good or drying?

Please help me sort out an easy skin care regime!

Definitely start with a good cleanser! Not a gel or foaming one, far too drying. Something creamy that you can massage into your skin then either rinse off with warm water or use a hot flannel to rub it off if you like that. I use Soap and Glory 'Peaches and Clean' cleanser which is lovely, about £7 from Boots and often on 3 for 2. You could try oil cleansing - google it for ideas but it's basically using an oil to massage into your skin to cleanse, then use. Hot flannel aoaked in water to remove it - repeat til all oil gone. Use sunflower oil and see if you like it - you can blend your own fancier oils if you want. Leaves skin lovely and soft.

After cleansing, it depends what you feel your skin needs. At night I use a few drops of oil (Neal's Yard Rose Facial Oil is lovely) then Nivea blue pot. Leaves me slathered and looking like butter dish but soft and smooth in the morning. In the daytime I concentrate on SPF and products that leave my skin texture feeling nice and makeup ready - for me personally that doesn't include a serum, I personally feel they're generally an absolute con. I use Soap and glory 'Feel Good Factor' which is supposed to be a bb cream, it's sheer and moisturising and SPF25, then follow with Bourjois Healthy Mix serum as a foundation which is quite moisture rich and light. This works for me.

Hi.

I have tried everything there is when it comes to skin care. I used to use Clinique but it's too harsh and the chemicals stripped my skin.

I've been using bare minerals for 3 months now and for someone who has spots, dry and combination oily skin with an uneven tone - it's never looked better now and I am barely having to wear makeup.

They cost money but I bought them in stages and they are so worth it. My regime is this (sounds like a lot but very quick)

  • Night = take off make up with a wipe. Scrub face with BM exfoliate, wash with deep cleansing foam and then moisturise with purely nourishing cream.
  • Morning = same but use the lighter SPF moisturiser.

Hope this helps.

Hello! I'd agree with the above posters- d

(Sorry!hit reply by accident grrr!) don't get a foaming/gel cleanser type thing. If you can, go for a balm cleanser- they're really effective but better for dry, 'mature' skin. I think toners can be a bit overrated- esp.if you're not used to an elaborate skincare routine. Instead go for a basic moisturiser- anything will do, but check the ingredients list and avoid anything with alcohol high up the list, or mineral oil. If you want more info, or want to see some of my own product recommendations, check out my blog: daisydabbles.blogspot.co.uk/ anyway, I hope you find something that works for you!xxx
