I hot cloth cleanse now!

Wondered if anyone fancied sharing their experiences with hot cloth cleansing?
I read about the superdrug vitamn e hot cloth cleanser and rushed out to buy that, as well as the face oil, eye cream and day moisturiser.
My skin is dull lined grey and spotty since giving birth 10 months ago- miss those pregnancy hormones! I also don't drink as much water as I did duribg pregnancy and the first few months of bf so my skin has suffered.

So, last night I washed twice with the cleanser and applied the oil- 4 drops. It felt and smelt lovely and this morning had a nice glow. I've just washed again with the cleanser but after tomorrow I will just do it at night and then splash with water in the morning.

Skin feels smooth to touch and not greasy but possibly a bit tight (not sure how normal this is as skincare has been baby wipes!) but looks lovely- smoother (!?) I think! The creams also have light reflecting particles (golden) so I have a nice dewy glow.

I will be putting benefit tinted moisturiser on top for a bit of coverage so will let you know how that goes in a bit.

Anyone doing anything similar? Any tips to make the most of my new regime? Off to drink a pint of water now!

I do it too. :)

It's much more gentle than wash off cleansers, and my skin feels cleaner/ less greasy than using cotton wool iykwim.

My favourite thing is la Roche possay effaclar duo - it seems to be fixing my hormonal acne like magic! Grin

nervy555 · 25/05/2014 09:57

Sudden, do you do it am and pm? Oo when my budget increases I might try the la Roche one- thanks :-)

I've been hot cloth cleansing for ages - since it used to be called 'washing your face with a flannel'.

I really liked the Liz Earle cleanse and polish but have recently switched to the Superdrug naturally radiant one and its just as good.

dexter73 · 25/05/2014 11:07

I tried it but found it too harsh for my poor, sensitive skin! It dried it out and I got little itchy, red patches. I use micellar water now which is much kinder.

Bwahaha Grin

I've tried a few brands for this - eve lom, Liz Earle etc, all lovely but I find it works as well with any old cleanser massaged on amd removed with a hot flannel..sorry cloth

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/05/2014 11:11

I used to use Liz Earle for years (QVC special offers) but I don't like lavender so I'm limited in her range what I'll tolerate smelling.

I've tried the Superdrug Radience (it's good, more creamy, less chalky)
But recently moved onto Good Things Manuka Honey - it's rich, takes off eye-makeup and washes off with a mulsin cloth.
I use a wash-off cleanser in the shower in the morning.

YY to cloths rather than fiddly cotton wool.

I started a few months ago after advice on here and it's magic. I couldn't got on with facial oils but I do use a serum and a nice moisturiser after the hot cloth and it's made a massive difference to my skin!

nervy555 · 25/05/2014 12:51

canary ha ha ha I know! Actually bought a flannel too but it was too rough- will use it in the shower for bumpy upper arms.Good to know that superdrug's is just as good as the le one.

Good to hear of some other brands too in case this doesn't work out.

I have three sore little spots on my chin so I'm interested to see how quickly they clear up.

Oo update- tinted moisturiser went over the sd radiance moisturiser really well.

70 is thanks, I have always used a soap bar on my face in the shower in the morning- but feel as though a break from 'washing' in the morning could be good so gonna just use water- what does everyone else do in the morning- when hopefully make up isn't an issue?

Sometimes I hot cloth in the morning too if I feel sweaty or uncomfortable, but often I use Lush Breath of Fresh Air on a cotton pad instead. Nice and refreshing in the morning.

nervy555 · 25/05/2014 17:00

I miss Lush! Used to live near one but don't anymore. Is it a cream then blithereens?

No it's a spray. It's nice and gentle and fresh. You can also just spritz it on in the day if you're hot or travelling. I love it!

Suddengeekgirl · 25/05/2014 17:15

I do it am and pm. With any cream cleanser. I tried stage simple one which was a bit meh. I like the body shop vitamin e one and am currently using the garnier green one (can't remember name) to use it up. (Can't remember why I bought it).

I cut up the dcs old muslin cloths as flannels are too rough. I do have to tell myself not to scrub my face clean though! Blush

The effaclar duo is almost too £££ for me but I've almost finished the first tube of it and my skin looks so much better - the hormonal spots are smaller and go much more quickly. :) I'm going to cut down to using it once a day and see what happens.

And if the aldi face creams I bought are good then my overall spend on skincare won't be too £££. :)

nervy555 · 25/05/2014 19:02

Brill idea re muslins! On it with the slightly greying one!

Update- have noticed two or three little pimples...coincidence or cause and effect? Should I carry on? Hope the exfoliating with the cloth is working out the dirt?

Hmmmm first world problems Wink

I picked up that honey good things cleanser in TK Maxx yesterday, think it was £2.99
My skin looks totally totally different now, will see if I can find before and after pics

Blush Thank you. In the second pic? I'm a makeup junkie!

JavaSparrow · 25/05/2014 21:00

I love the hot cloth thing, it feels so clean but not tight and no stinging eyes from eye make up removers. All superdrug vit e range. I do use a ordinary face cloth though.

In the evening I have found the oil to be better than any night cream. Plus I like the smell.

In the morning, when I shower, I do what someone on here recommended: put a thick layer on and shower. Rub off at the end. The steam works and my skin feels lovely.

Finally a skincare regimes that works!

And yes OP, your make up looks amazing, nice skin too.

Day three very happy still. Used the shower advice this morning and it was lovely. Thanksjava

Has anyone noticed that the eye cream leaves your skin a bit white? Maybe I'm using too much?

OP posts:
nervy555 · 27/05/2014 11:14

Really pleased with how my skin's looking overall- definitely more radiant and even smoother- especially in the morning after the oil. But I am still getting quite a few little spots. Keep at it?
