What to wear to little ones christening?!

I am unbelievably stick on what to wear to my little boys christening in July. I have never attended a christening except my own and being under 1 I do not remember much. I have an awful saggy c-section belly which I need to hide. But ideally would like a dress that's easy for breastfeeding. Although I can work round that by pumping the day before. I am only 5ft. I was thinking of something black and white floral, or maybe light blue and white?? Could anybody please post up pictures to help me out? Also cannot really afford anything over £20 unless it's gorgeous and I can wear it for other occasions.

What size are you op? Is that 20 for a dress?

Sorry these dresses don't tick any of your boxes but will look lovely with a jacket or cardi for inside church.

Sorry to lurk, I'll be in a similar situation to you come July, except the b/f cos ds2 is fully weaned. So I hope someone comes up with something good ASAP! Grin
Wish I had the answer ...

Budget wise I would try peacocks

But get really good shapewear. Also you have a bit of time until July so may be good to get out waking a lot in th good weather if you can (need to take own advice)

I think it's always better to not go sleeveless in church

The vintage dresses look amazing, but are far too expensive. That's the only downside. I am a size 14 roughly (14 on top, 12 on bottom). I don't think il be able to loose anything before July :(. I haven't lost a pound since LO was born. Not too sure about the Peter Pan dress. I am quite a plain person generally, and wear nothing but greys haha!

I went to a christening the other day and although it might not sound great I wore black jeans, a royal blue top and a cream blazer with a pair of wedges.

I had all this in my wardrobe so maybe there is something you can mix and just buy one thing to make it an outfit? Smile

Hi Lillannii,

Christenings and weddings can always be troublesome when it comes to finding outfits that look stylish without breaking the bank!

Seeing as though you are slimmer on your bottom half, I would imagine you'd look fantastic in a pair of tailored, slim fit trousers - ones with a slight pattern would be really stylish.
H&M have a great range, I especially like the ones is this link:

Primark also have a good selection at the moment.

You could then team these with a simple wrap top/blouse in black or white (meaning that you'd easily be able to breast feed if needed) and add a great necklace to finish the off the look.

Hope that helps!

Amy

Have you considered hiring something? Like from www.wishwantwear.com/?

SweetPeaPods · 26/05/2014 19:04

Have you looked on eBay?
There are loads of dresses that have only been worn once.
Mamas and papas had some nice dresses too, that are suitable for nursing. But depends if you want to avoid maternity wear?
I wore a maxi dress to ds's christening. Primark have some nice ones in too.
