Me and DD wearing similar dresses to a wedding

DD's best friend's mum is getting married today. DD (age 6) is very excited and has picked out a dress which happens to be the same colour (mint green), although a different style, to the dress I was planning to wear.

So DD and I in similar outfits - cute or naff? Opinions please!

Naff

SummerRain · 24/05/2014 12:09

Terrible, it's quite a distinctive colour and you're going to look like one of those mad women who did it intentionally.

She's 6, convince her that another dress is even better and wear what you were planning.

FauxFox · 24/05/2014 12:40

No, no, no, no, no, no, noooooooooo! Bribe her to wear something else!

ShineSmile · 24/05/2014 12:50

I think it's cute Smile but I'm probably an exception

MuttonCadet · 24/05/2014 12:51

I think it's fine. I'm not sure people would assume it's planned.

scarlettsmummy2 · 24/05/2014 12:54

I love coordinating with my two little girls! I don't actually care what others think- we like it.

BumWad · 24/05/2014 12:59

Cute

strawberryangel · 24/05/2014 13:01

Co-ordinating if not too obvious = lovely!
Matching= naff!

HeyBungalowBill · 24/05/2014 13:03

Can you accessorise them differently?
For example she could wear a white cardigan type thing over hers? And you could wear nice jewellery and maybe tights?

I think it's fine to be similar but to properly match would be a little much

PeppermintInfusion · 24/05/2014 13:34

It's cute as long as it's not too matchy matchy. Can you add a different accent colour with accessories maybe?
I know a lot of women at weddings get their OH to wear a coordinating tie etc to match their outfit so it wouldn't be much different to that really.

BackforGood · 24/05/2014 13:37

Really naff - DON'T do it!

CrispyFern · 24/05/2014 13:38

I always do this by accident then realise halfway through the day and kick myself. Blush

BubaMarra · 24/05/2014 16:10

I am one of those that wouldn't really notice. I wouldn't change the dress and wear something I don't really feel good at instead. Between that and being judged by some people, I would definitely go for the latter.
And same colour clothes can look totally different depending on the patterns and style and of course accessories you wear. So if you are worried that you would look too matchy matchy, try to differentiate along those lines.

SodaFizz · 24/05/2014 17:55

If they are the same shade of mint green, definitely not. You'll look like you're trying to be bridesmaid and flower girl. She's six, sway her towards another choice

tumbletumble · 25/05/2014 08:19

I didn't see these replies before we had to leave. I went for a different outfit - sounds like I made the right decision!

When dd was little I sometimes ended up wearing a similar thing. It's because I'm an idiot. I'd think - what shall I wear? That blue dress, blue cardigan, black boots. I'd then go into DDs room with blue dress/cardigan/boots in my head and without consciously planning it we would kind of match.
One woman I used to be friendly with walked up to us and mocked me. (She was a massive twat though.)
I did actively check after that though.

Coumarin · 25/05/2014 12:43

You changed your outfit?

TheBuskersDog · 25/05/2014 13:10

My thoughts too Coumarin.

tumbletumble · 26/05/2014 15:23

I had two possible outfits so I decided to wear the other one. No big deal Smile
