Should I spend £380 on a lovely interchangeable Fossil watch??

looky here

Fossil are celebrating 30 years and have released a limited edition watch to celebrate. One face which fits onto 30 leather/plastic straps to create lots of looks.

It's my 30th birthday soon and DH offered to buy it for me as a gift. The icing on the cake is that the back of the watch has "30th" imprinted.

Would love it, and we can (sort of) afford it, but just wondering if anyone else has any experience of the Fossil Georgia watch style or this specific limited edition.

I wouldn't. I would rather a better quality stainless steel watch.

If you like Fossil and rose gold, how about this or if you don't want the bling this? I have just bought the second one for my daughter's birthday and the back is big enough to have engraved yourself if you want to?

Like Stripytop, I didn't expect to like it. I think it is a lot of money but I think it is beautiful. Especially if you wear a watch every day. And if you would wear them as bracelets. I couldn't see myself as wearing them as bracelets but would still be tempted. Happy birthday!

Oh wow, I REALLY like that OP Envy

Twinklestein · 25/05/2014 19:41

As with others I was expecting to say no, but I really like it. It's impossible to tell the quality from a photo though, so you'd have to see it in r/l.

My only quibble would be that depending on the quality of the watch itself, if it stops working you'd be left with a whole lot of redundant straps. You might be better spending your money on a better quality watch mechanism.

I LOVE Fossil watches, but the one in the link isn't really doing it for me for some reason. It's very £ for a lot of different coloured straps (imho). Prefer other Fossils more.

spiderbabymum · 25/05/2014 19:52

Eh it's out of stock

Chewbecca · 25/05/2014 20:51

I thought it was rather over-priced for a fossil but have surprised myself by actually really liking it. If you are madly in love with it and can afford it, I say go for it.

i like fossil watches, used to have one years ago and for nostalgia reasons (I think) I bought another one last year only sadly had to return it to john lewis as the strap kept breaking.

Whilst I like the watch you've linked to and all the choices of strap, I think there's a whole load of straps that would never get used (by me anyway) and, crucially, I'd never, ever, pay that amount of money for an average-ish watch and a whole load of straps I probably won't get use out of even if the presentation box thingy is a nice touch.

Don't like the rose gold one linked to at all, it looks cheap. I say opt for one watch that you really really like if watches are you thing.

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 26/05/2014 13:12

I agree about the rose gold watch - looks cheap imo.

Helenj92 · 26/05/2014 21:00

I just bought this watch and love it! Quality is excellent and I will enjoy wearing all the different straps as I personally think the colours are lovely and don't look cheap at all.

I already have a beautiful stainless steel evening watch, so was after an everyday watch and this is perfect. I know it is £££, but I am planning on it lasting me a very long time!

Did you go for it op?

hiccupgirl · 27/05/2014 10:15

I like Fossil watches and have 3 I think along with a couple of other watches - I'm useless at finding them in the morning so need options!

But I wouldn't spend that much money on basically a watch and lots of straps. I did buy a Fossil watch with 3 different straps about 6 years ago and tbh I only use 1 strap because it was a faff to change them frequently and then I lost 1 of the straps anyway.

I think it's a nice idea but it's a hell of a lot of money for a watch!

ROARmeow · 27/05/2014 10:50

Yes, DH bought it for me at the weekend. But he's hidden it away until my birthday.

Can't wait to wear it!!

I think it's nice bit it doesn't have the wow factor for me. It's your choice though OP, you have to wear it Grin
