Looks quite heavy coverage but obviously has light reflectors in it and gives them that expensive glow ?

I don't know but often wonder this too, and have spent a lot of money ruling many out!

Bunbaker · 23/05/2014 20:45

I am older, but not immaculate. My favourite foundation is Boots no7 Intelligent Colour. It has a lovely light texture and I never look over made up.

Minnieisthedevilmouse · 23/05/2014 20:46

I'm guessing Estée Lauder double wear.

MellowAutumn · 23/05/2014 20:46

Bunbaker - I actually want to look made up if that makes sense :)

YSL touche eclat foundation is amazing
Has serum and light reflective thingys

Touche eclat is excellent, but Lancome Lumessence is still my favourite.

I prepare with a Temple Spa primer then i use Clinique line smoothing concealer. On top of that goes Clarins BB skin perfecting cream then Clarins Mineral loose powder. It takes 10 years off me. I am 51 but people tend to think i am early 40"s. I have a lot of redness but this regime covers it all beautifully.

Two very expensive but highly rated products are
By Terry Densiliss and Chantecallie Future Skin

JapaneseMargaret · 23/05/2014 21:38

As this thread indicates, I don't think there is a particular answer to this.

The women you see have simply landed on the foundation that works for them. Lancôme, for example, is amazing for some people, but is completely on me...

I am still looking for my perfect foundation, and I'm 40!

JapaneseMargaret · 23/05/2014 21:40

Redirected - do you mean touche éclat itself, or the foundation?

BritabroadinAsia · 24/05/2014 02:14

Definitely qualify for the former, invariably not the latter...but I love the Chanel Lumiere range. I use VitaLumiere Aqua, but think the Perfection Lumiere or Lumiere Velvet will offer a bit more coverage, and still have the light reflecting capability. It is expensive, but I find a little goes a long way.

A few years ago I booked a session at my (then) local department store where the in-house make-up artist did a make up lesson but used cosmetics from the whole range of lines stocked in store. It was great - she was totally up on all the different products but didn't have any particular brand to promote, so I felt I got an objective view. As I remember, I had to pay for the session but it was redeemable against the products (several of which I bought - it was my birthday!). Is there anything similar available near you?

Or have you tried the Lisa Eldridge (make up artist) website? She is fabulous, and again, offers very current advice on a range of products with great video tutorials.

I like Lacombe miracle air de teint at the moment

MrsCampbellBlack · 24/05/2014 07:22

Lancome, I meant

lucy101 · 24/05/2014 07:30

Every time I have really noticed just how amazing (and natural somehow) someone's skin was and asked them it has been Chanel Vitalumiere.. but that might not be the look you want.

Iatemyskinnyperson · 24/05/2014 08:38

I picked up Clarins extra comfort foundation this week, very lovely for drier skin types. Good coverage, not too matte.

Bunbaker · 24/05/2014 08:41

"I actually want to look made up if that makes sense"

Not a great look on older skin IMO.

Bonsoir · 24/05/2014 09:02

In certain circumstances - work may be one - a distinctly made-up look is the right one. I love natural looks (and spend time and money on the type of skin and hair care that allows it) but if I want someone to listen and take note I make sure my make-up, hair and nails are "done".

PeppermintInfusion · 24/05/2014 13:43

I would go to a makeup hall in a dept store and take a walk round looking to see which assistants have the look you're after as they'll be mostly using their own counter's products. I would say it's probably going to be Estée Lauder, Clarins, Elizabeth Arden, Dior or Lancôme. The likes of Clinique, Benefit, Bobbi Brown, etc seem to favour a less made up look.
Be bold and ask for samples etc to try out at home too.

ThisBitchIsResting · 24/05/2014 14:34

Bear in mind too that it might not just be the foundation. I am only 34 but my skin can look very dry and dull. I love Bourjois Healthy Mix serum, it feels smooth and moisturising and a great colour match, but I still finish with a sweep of light reflecting powder, and add highlighter and cream blusher too. I see complexion as a combination of products, never just the foundation itself. Although Touché Éclat foundation is v good at luminosity all on its own.

MissBlake · 24/05/2014 15:26

Alot depends on getting the right foundation for your skin type, how you apply it and what products your using with it.
Revlon nearly naked has a lovely finish, its really natural and silky looking for people with a normal - slightly drier skin type. Sadly its utterly hopeless on my oily skin.
Mixing a tiny amount of liquid highlighter like benefit highbeam with foundation before application gives skin a nice glow too.
