Would love some help for my DD(age 10), where to shop, what to buy.

Just wondered if anyone had any suggestions please.

My dd is 10/nearly 11, approx 155 cm/5'2" and approx dress size 6 or age 13/14 clothes.
She has grown again and needs some summery clothes. At the moment she lives in skinny jeans, t-shirts, hoodies and ankle boots.
I am not sure where to take her to shop. I don't want to spend loads of money because she is growing like a weed at the moment but we are going away in a week and she needs a few bits. I was thinking proper shorts, needs sandals too, longer t-shirts.
Suggestions would be really welcome.
Thanks.

Similar dd here. She likes h and m (although most of her size is online only) and also new look teens. I get her some better quality things from next and marks and spencers. Schuh is good for trendy shoes and sandals. They all seem to want converse at that age.... peacocks do a similar style that dd and he friends all like.

Primark had some rather nice chino shorts in various colours in the boys section. I was thinking of getting some for my DD as I'm fed up with the ridiculous short shorts which are all they have for girls.

Cereal0ffender · 23/05/2014 10:47

H and m had some nice shorts in, also johnnie b in the sale. Gap for t shirts

Joules have some very pretty young girls clothes. as do H&M etc.

would Monsoon kids be too pretty etc?

Bagpussss · 23/05/2014 11:10

Primark goes down well with pre-teens/teens, so does River Island, H&M, and New Look. Jelly shoes are in for the summer, they can be worn with skinny jeans, skirts and shorts.

Dd is 13 but similar size, maybe a bit shorter. You're lucky as your dd is tall she can wear adult trousers just.

Tesco is actually really good at the moment. My dd found quite a few things she liked in there last week.

New look has a good teenager section.

I recently bought a very nice dress for my ten year old in Top Shop 9-15 range.

Nocomet · 23/05/2014 11:25

H&M, New look, adults and teens ranges.
Dotty P's
Matalan
Primark
Next online, very good for shorts (that actually cover the bum) and trousers (plus fit jeans are great for teen size, but not teen hight 10y)
DD2 likes M&S jeans.
Next and M&S trousers are a better shape than H&M who are a bit hit and miss IME.

At that age I used to buy a lot from River island for my daughter as they do small sizes! aren't expensive and have the current fashion trends.

Ebay is also a great source as they grow so quickly at that age, a lot of fashion clothes are barely worn or not worn at all.

AnnabelleDarling · 23/05/2014 16:02

Zara and Gap are my 10 year old dd's favourites. Also Johnnie B from boden

slug · 23/05/2014 16:27

H&M do good early teenage girl's clothes i.e. fashionable without being too adult and not pink and glittery.
Uniqulo for basics. DD is a similar size. I've had her in Uniqulo xs tops and hoodies for a couple of years. They do good, basic clothes at a reasonable price. They also do shorts

prisonerofallisurvey · 23/05/2014 16:31

Thanks all! She is definitely not a frilly/fussy dresser. Thanks for the tip about the chino shorts - I don't want the short short shorts!

I feel a shopping trip coming on . . .

Dd is a bit younger but we've just had a very successful delivery from Zara. Shorts that were short but not too short nice drapery t-shirts and not babyish.
