It's time to invest in some Birkenstocks, but which ones?

The sun is shining, I'm thinking of summer and have decided now is the time to invest in some Birkenstocks.

But which ones?
I like the Arizona, but can't decide between black or white.

Can anyone help?
Do you have them and are they comfy?

I've got

grumblepuss · 19/05/2014 13:17

I've got bronze gizahs.
You can tighten the straps so you're not clinging on to them with your toes.

Coumarin · 19/05/2014 13:22

I like the look of those grumble Thanks!

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2014 13:26

I have white Mayaris, brown Gizehs and some sort of silveryish Gizehs - love 'em allSmile

I always size down. Didn't know they do them in different widths, but my feet are averagely wide so I guess that's why they don't fart!

MrsLundyBancroft · 19/05/2014 13:29

I don't have very wide feet Courmarin and I find the narrow fit to be perfect for me.

I'm very much looking forward to my new Mayaris. They seem to be popular on here!

mejon · 19/05/2014 13:29

I have navy leather Arizonas. I thought they would have white soles but they were black when they arrived so I was a little disappointed. They're still great though and vrry comfy. It's a relief to put them on after wearing shoes all day.

moogalicious · 19/05/2014 13:32

Another one for mayaris. They are so comfy and they look nicer than the arizonas.

moogalicious · 19/05/2014 13:32

And yy to sizing down.

PrimalLass · 19/05/2014 14:20

How bad is the toe post rub with the mayaris?

I like the look of them on other people but not on my feet as my pinkie tow has no nail and I like to keep it covered up.

Coumarin · 19/05/2014 14:24

Thanks MrsL I didn't realise they came in different widths.

SoFishy · 19/05/2014 15:05

For covering up the pinky you might like the Pisa

bigTillyMint · 19/05/2014 15:25

No toe rub at all on my Mayaris. Or Gizehs, even when worn for the first time in the summer.

SoFishy · 19/05/2014 15:51

I normally hate toe posts, but the toe post on the Mayari and Yara designs is great because the only (very slight) pressure is sideways, so it doesn't pull back into the space between your toes iyswim. I wore mine all last summer and no toe post issues at all.

MrsLundyBancroft · 19/05/2014 16:35

I've just shown my dds and they have given the Mayari their seal of approval. Hard worn usually as they are 14 & 16 Hmm

PrimalLass · 19/05/2014 17:51

Thanks SoFishy. I have those in black but they feel a bit frumpy on. I may try the mayaris next addicted to birks

JuniDD · 19/05/2014 17:54

I'm a Birkis Salinas wearer. They are seriously comfy, just go a size down.

sewingandcakes · 19/05/2014 18:04

I've been wearing my papillo gizeh Birkenstocks since they arrived last week. I LOVE them. I have plantar fasciitis and they've helped a lot.

It's time to invest in some Birkenstocks, but which ones?
HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 19/05/2014 18:30

I size down. I'm a definite size 8 everywhere usually translating to a 42 but I wear a 41 in Birkenstock. If they did a 40.5 I'd get those as 41 is slightly too big and 40 too small.

Floralnomad · 20/05/2014 18:02

Amending my previous post ,I obviously just have bizarre feet ,I took my dd out to buy shoes today and she decided to have some Birkenstocks .She is normally a 4 but had to have a 3 which are still amply big enough ,could probably do a 2.5 if they made it .

Coumarin · 20/05/2014 19:28

Love those Sewing

I'm definitely swaying towards the gizehs. Toe posts always hurt me though so but apprehensive they'll be more comfortable than others.

BigArea · 20/05/2014 21:50

Hi OP just remembered mine are actually Tabora - same as Mayaris but without front buckle. Might help widen your search a bit Smile

hiccupgirl · 20/05/2014 22:12

I have mayari ones in black which are so comfy and Florida ones in a flowery print that I've never quite got the fit right with. They do feel like they're going to fall off my feet when I walk.

I'm a 6 1/2 and go down to a 39/6 but in the wider fitting.

NormHonal · 20/05/2014 22:19

My Arizonas have rubbed my feet Angry. AND they didn't stay on as well as hoped. I'm still getting to grips with their "clumpiness". How very "fashionable" no really, I prefer the Madrids.

I've got some other ones (not saying which, will out self) in the Papillo design and they are just lovely.

I hate toe posts though.

AFingerofFudge · 21/05/2014 17:15

Just like sofishy I too need an ankle strap so they don't fly off! I normally wear milano's , but this year I needed some new ones and went for the silver coloured Rio Birko-floor. They are fab!

libra101 · 21/05/2014 17:49

I have read a lot about Birkenstocks and how comfy they are.

The problem is that I have very small feet - size 2 or (1 1/2), and would probably need a children's size.

Do quite a lot of dog walking. Currently wear Flyflots, which are very good, are Birkenstocks better?
