So the sun is out. finally. Hats of choice? Are baseball caps unacceptable?

I am quite obsessive about keeping my face out of the sun (had basal cell carcinoma a few years back resulting in nasty op on my cheek). Anyway, LOVE the sun, but do like a hat. Trouble is, baseball caps are clearly v. practical (no brim at the back to get in the way when sitting on bus, for instance). But surely a fashion crime…. Or maybe acceptable in an ironic, retro way? Does anyone have a good hat solution? Full on flouncy sun hat feels a bit silly in the city - plus real pain to know what to do with them when you take them off (in cafe, for instance). Is it just me?

I think baseball caps are horrible. Panamas or fedoras much nicer.

I have weaned dh off them ...he wore them for golf to protect bald head. But he then had a brown neck and white head

I have long hair and I wear baseball caps. Perfect little hole in the back for pulling pony tail through.

Only ever wear with jeans & tshirts though. Maxi dresses get a big floppy straw hat (hippy tendencies obviously)

Wear what you want, only narrow minded people would think any style of hat is unacceptable and who cares about pleasing them.

tkmaxx has good range of straw-esque fedora panama type things, caps ok too, whatever you want

I wear a cap with t-shirts and jeans if its really sunny.

Baseball caps are actually v in at the moment.

Proper panama hats actually roll up into a little tube which is very handy.

Loving the panamas. Hadn't realised they were packable/crushable - assumed more high maintenance. Think that is the answer. You still run the risk of them being blown away in the wind (not case with baseball caps), but they are SO much nicer I think it's worth it. HappyGirl & Capsium - THANK YOU. Will get busy on Amazon.

Well I wear a white straw Stetson, which bizarrely looks amazing on me! Not as practical as a Pabana/folding floppy hat, but gives oodles of all round shade.
