Is there any new and easy method of defuzzing pits?

I always used to shave, but this just seems to trigger infections and lots and lots of red spots that hurt all the time. They go away when I stop shaving.

Hair removal cream smells, and is a faff. Don't fancy waxing. Is there anything else?

I reckon let it grow for about 10 days before waxing - it's a drag the first time cos every hair is the same length, but after the first wax the regrowth is so sparse it's not the same at all. They all take their own time to start growing again and some just never did! if only legs and chins were the same Grin

I've just decided to reject that bit of patriarchal nonsense and have grown my armpit hair in. Kinda sexy.

Have you tried using Tend Skin OP? You might be ok with shaving if you use that.

Suzannewithaplan · 20/05/2014 17:43

I epiltate, quite enjoy the sensation of hair being pulled out.

I had mine laser ed a few years ago
Brilliamt. No five o clock shadow. It started to grow back a littlw so purchased a course via Groupon.

Ditto my bikini line.

It really is worth it.

Is laser the same as IPL? Confused

evelynj · 20/05/2014 23:08

I like the idea of laser/ipl but have a mole in ine of my pits-can I still have it done?

Orangeanddemons · 21/05/2014 07:23

How much is it to be lasered?

Costs vary.

I am currently having mine (re) done under a Groupon offer at a local salon.

I paid £59 for a course of 6 treatments for bikini line, and £49 for the 6 sessions of underarm.

When i had it done many years ago i paid more than that for each session. It was very expensive.

You have to have darkish hair, on a paleish skin for it to work.

thesaurusgirl · 21/05/2014 10:25

There are different lasers for different skin/hair combinations. Some are more expensive and/or painful than others.

IPL (which I tried once) hurts like buggery and is not the same as Soprano.

Also laser is not permanent or the answer to a prayer - I was told to think of it as permanent hair reduction but that I'd also need at least one top up treatment a year. It cost about £500 to get my pits done via Soprano, and the top ups are about £90 I think.

I'm planning to get lasered once I've finished BFing this last DC. In the meantime, as a direct result of this thread, I've booked in my first underarm wax! Not looking forward to being hairy until a week on Saturday though...

heidipi · 04/06/2014 15:39

JenniMoo did you get it done? I went yesterday and remembered that there was a possible convert on this thread. Do you hate us now?

JenniMoo · 05/06/2014 13:22

It hardly hurt at all and was over so quick! It was Saturday and they are beginning to grow back but the therapist said to go back in 3 weeks and hopefully after that they'll grow back less. They felt lovely and smooth the first few days.

heidipi · 07/06/2014 20:12

Fab, good for you! The first time I went, I wanted to leave after the first one (wuss with low pain threshold). you probably won't even notice next time Smile

JenniMoo · 07/06/2014 20:59

It was notj

JenniMoo · 07/06/2014 21:00

It was nothing compared to the first time I had my eyebrows threaded! Even that's not too bad these days.

I like the idea of laser/ipl but have a mole in one of my pits-can I still have it done?

Evelynj Someone wrote a review on Amazon on one of the IPL products and said she uses a white eyeliner pencil to colour in/cover her moles for the same reason that IPL works best on fair skin and doesn't have any bother with it.

To all the ladies that epilate pits - I take my hat off to you - you lot must be hard as nails Grin
