Interview outfit on a very tight budget... Jersey pencil skirt??

I've bought in the sale a jersey pencil skirt, sits below the knee, black with small navy spots, I'm a large size 12, firstly is this suitable for an interview, secondly what should I wear on the you half? I've got a long sleeved, fitted black shirt, would this go??
The position is management, attire I've seen worn is pretty casual/smart casual...

Also, shoes I'm assuming heels, court shoe type?

I think that would be fine with the shirt you describe just make sure tights are plain and heels conservative. Good luck Smile

SuperFlyHigh · 17/05/2014 21:59

I wouldn't wear that for an interview sorry.

Far too clingy and not smart enough.

A work dress with jacket would be much better.

Fairylea · 17/05/2014 22:02

Not for me either sorry. Too tight and the pattern isn't really management interview in my opinion. If you could even get a plain black one that would be better.

Notcontent · 17/05/2014 22:03

I agree with super - that might be fine once you get the job, but not for an interview.

SuperFlyHigh · 17/05/2014 22:05

Even plain black just no. Way too tight for an interview!
When you have the job it's fine.

If I were a woman interviewing and you turned up in that it wouldn't be a thumbs down but I'd wonder who you were wearing it for!

Chocamochalatte · 17/05/2014 22:10

That's the thing Notcontent it wouldn't be suitable to wear for the job if I got it as it would be too smart! I have seen a director and senior manager and they were wearing chino type trousers and open shirts...

Interview always requires smart especially at more senior level/professional job so it's a suit I'm afraid or a smart dress/jacket. Can you borrow? Or do you have outlet shopping, autonomy do cheap suits? Or asda, tesco etc? Shoes for me are less important if they are smart

hotcrosshunny · 17/05/2014 22:22

Try charity shops. You might pick up a black dress.

Hennes do cheap black pencil skirts and jackets sometimes. Don't stand the test of time but OK for one day!

Chocamochalatte · 17/05/2014 22:27

Ok, found a better picture, more like this... Have no (heels) shoes which is another problem hoping to beg and borrow!

Trawled the charity shops before buying this, there was nothing, they are so rubbish by us, this was actually cheaper @ £10 than all the skirts in the charity shops too...

I guess I was kind of going for something like this: m.asos.com/mt/www.asos.com/ASOS/ASOS-Pencil-Skirt-with-Seam-Detail/Prod/pgeproduct.aspx?iid=4156161&SearchQuery=Spotty%20pencil%20skirt&Rf-700=1000&sh=0&pge=0&pgesize=50&sort=-1&clr=Arcticblue

Am I completely off the mark for an interview? It's been a while....

What environment are you interviewing for? Accountancy, media etc?

Chocamochalatte · 17/05/2014 23:28

Hmm, without 'outing' myself (!) Front of House Manager type role but not in a hotel, leisure/education industry

WTFlike · 17/05/2014 23:42

Is it very clingy on? Could you wear a slip under it to stop it clinging?

PigletJohn · 17/05/2014 23:45

FoH here generally wear black and white.

Chocamochalatte · 17/05/2014 23:46

Never thought of that, could do..
