Can anyone advise about home keratin treatment on thick wavy hair. Don't want it straight, just looking to improve the condition.

Just that really.

I have chin length thick coarse dry wavy hair. I hate it right now. It never looks anything nice.

I like the waves/curls so I'm not looking to straighten it, but I'd love to have it more sleek and bouncy instead of parched and bushy!

Has anyone used a home keratin treatment for this effect?

TIA

Yes. I've been using the keratin kits Brazilian straightening kit for a year and a half. It's more of a smoothing treatment than a straightening one, but takes out a fair amount of the curl initially.

It's impressive and it does what it claims. However, I have decided to stop using it due to some alarming reports of the chemicals it contains. The one I use is formaldehyde free, but what they don't tell you is the chemical they've put in its place, when heat activated, can be just as harmful

I'm reluctant to give it up, as it's really made my life easier with regards to dramatically cutting down styling time, but I just don't want to risk it anymore.

I were you, I'd just go and get regular treatments at your hairdressers.......like I used to.

It's your decision of course, but I'd do your research beforehand.

Thanks breakingtradition, that's interesting. The thing I've found is that no amount of salon treatments, intensive conditioners etc seems to make much difference.
I'm so sick of it looking rubbish and the reviews of the keratin treatments are so positive!!
I'll do s

I know the reviews are amazing minty and like I said, it really does work, but I guess you have to weigh things up.

I know pretty much everything, especially beauty products, contain loads of different chemicals, but formaldehyde is proven to be cancer causing.

If and when you do the treatment, it does actually feel like it's doing you damage. Your eyes sting like mad and they stream. When you breathe the fumes in, it burns. I kept doing it because it was formaldehyde free, but then somebody on here actually, told me about this other chemical and that was that for me really

I understand what you're saying about treatments, but there are more and more impressive hair products on the market every day.

Have you tried the new tresemme keratin range?
