Breaking out after changing cleanser/moisturiser

My skin was feeling dehydrated and irritated so I changed my moisturiser from Clinique Dramatically Different to Eurecin 5% urea. A wk later, I then changed my cleanser to a no 7 one to Lush's Ultrabland.

Was feeling very happy as skin lots softer and looked better. But, have started to break out - just a couple of spots so far but poss more on way. They're quite deep bumps, so could get big and angry looking.

Should I stop both or either new products?

Could it be the fabric conditioner on the flannels I've been using with the Ultrabland?

Could it be more skin purging itself of all the rubbish??

Help, I have some events coming up. Don't want to be spotty!!

I'm of the opinion that skin doesn't "purge" unless you have used something for unclogging pores or steamed your face and even then it shouldn't be anything dramatic.

I'd stop using the cleanser first and if it doesn't help I'd stop the moisturiser too.

I'd also get some facial oil on your skin overnight to help with the spots.

Watching with interest - I've started using facial oils over the last few weeks (almond, rosehip) and it just seems to be making my skin worse! Don't know what I'm doing wrong!

What do you want from a facial oil? What kind of skin do you have?

I have combination, dehydrated skin. So I use an oil that is suitable for oily but dehydrated skin so that it's not too intense.

I have dry, flaky skin that is prone to acne (lovely). I moisturise religiously but I only have to wash my face and it flakes within seconds, which seems to be causing spots. I don't over-exfoliate (I do it maybe once a week) and don't scrub at my skin. I've had hormone changes recently so a normal, everyday moisturiser used to be fine but now my skin is out of control!

KoalaFace, I use quite steamy cloths to wipe face to get the Ultrabland cleanser off. The cleanser is very oily and needs quite a bit of effort to remove. Perhaps there's a little residue still on there afterwards causing problems... ?

I have Sudocrem on my spots... I've tried others (dermologica and neat tea tree), tbh, nothing really works except antibiotic lotion which I had when my skin was going through a particularly bad stage.

What oils were you thinking of?

I use this one from Clarins it's okay and helps to bring blemishes out that sometimes lurk! It's overpriced I think though. I'd be happy with a Body Shop or Boots Botanics one to be honest!

The thing that has made a huge difference to my skin is ditching the scrubby, bead exfoliators and using only exfoliating toners. Right after cleansing and then follow with whatever serums, moisturisers or oils I want to use.

That looks interesting - although I'm a bit reluctant to throw anything else new into the mix at the moment. Even with the promise of anti ageing action!

The new regime has made my skin plumper and smoother. Shame about the acne that's forming!
