Capsule wardrobe help!

I've just gone through my wardrobe and thrown out anything that doesn't fit, then a second round of clearing out stuff that was just bad. But I just don't know where to start on what to replace it with.

I'm left with:
A few 'dressy' Hobbs and LK Bennett shifts, very tailored and fitted
One pair of bright red Gap zip jeans
One pair of black skinny jeans
Two pairs of leggings (hmmm)
One wrap dress
One Breton tshirt
A few vests
Two tunics (not sure on these)
One gap trench
One gap fitted denim jacket
One Merrell ellenwood raincoat
One leather biker jacket
One navy blazer

Decent selection of bags and shoes, I think... And I sorted my underwear out as a matter of urgency.

Can anyone share with me their must haves, or even better what they think might work with this? I'm on a very tight budget - work part time in creative workplace and have a toddler DS... Need to be kind-of-trendy and practical all at once :-/ I'm size 14 hourglass and trying to lose the mum tum...

Thanks in advance, all suggestions will be noted!

Lose the leggings, other than for slobbing at home!

I would start with:

blue jeans, mid-wash probably the most use

some good tops that can be casual or can have a necklace shoved over to dress them up a bit

maybe a lightweight casual blazer, or light parka or fabric biker for warmer days when denim jacket no good if you want to wear jeans

Thanks Remus! My hand did hover over the leggings... You're right - they need to stay at home.
Denim-on-denim! Hadn't thought of that. Good tip :)

Meant to add to the list the hush ruched skirt and a couple of pairs of opaques - probably need a decent sloppy jumper...

The tops are a good idea, maybe some more breton ones… or ones in a colour you know suits you.

a skirt would be a good idea - not sure where to look but a couple can look great, floral, stripes, whatever you think is nice. then you can add the jackets and tops with these. how about a tube skirt? you can also look at spring/summery skirts. Tara Jarmon do some very nice skirts, patterned ones, try ebay.

another wrap dress would be a good idea.

also knitwear is good - some cardigans and also maybe lightweight knits.

final thought - what about blouses/shirts - a friend is staying with me this week, similar size to you and she layers these with various knits, you can do white or blue pin tucked or tunic ones but these seem more classic than tunics.

Thanks so much super for your thought out post!

Lightweight knits - definitely. All of mine were old, bobbled and misshapen, I could do with a few of those.
Blouses I've stayed away from because of my boob-waist ratio, but I like the idea of layering. I will do a bit of googling for, ahem, 'forgiving' blouses.

I'm googling your skirt suggestion too - I hate my calves but maybe with opaques and brogues or Chelsea boots...

cloggal - everyone has apparently a nice skirt length - eg a length where the skirt hits that suits you best.

My glam film friend who stayed with me has these gorgeous ecru/beige-pink brogues with a teeny bit of lace, god knows where they're from but they're vair pretty for summer. with a summery skirt

I definitely do love a vair nice brogue... I think I need to steal your friend's wardrobe super!
